That's what a top Democrat calls the White House's handling of the situation in Rhode Island – where President Obama declined to endorse the Democratic candidate for governor there, Frank Caprio.

This senior Democrat, who's working to elect Democrats across the country, wouldn't speak for attribution while criticizing the White House. This person believes the White House declined to endorse Caprio "entirely out of a sense of loyalty to Lincoln Chafee". Chafee, a Republican-turned-independent and a former senator, is running against Caprio and endorsed then-candidate Obama in 2008.

This source, clearly frustrated with the White House, added, "What they forget is that President Obama is the leader of the party, and sometimes that means supporting your party over your friends. This is especially true when you consider that we are in the worst environment since 1994."

Unbelievable considering the Republicans have such a strong lead in the governorships this year....a year when redistricting is coming up from the census data.  The lesson he should have learned from backing Arlen Specter appears to already have been forgotten.

Apparently he has learned nothing from the Clintons when it comes to party loyalty.  Hope his loyalty is returned and we get Hillary in 2012.

VH, Yeah, So, Obama has put himself and his friends ahead of the party.  Then, he wants to make it sound all holy! "Out of respect" for Chafee?  Ha-ha!  Chafee supported Obama in 2008.

WH: Obama didn't endorse R.I. Dem 'out of respect' for Chafee (By Jordan Fabian and Sam Youngman, The Hill, 10/25/10 04:03 PM ET

Chafee was a supporter of Barack Obama's 2008 presidential bid.

That's in Wikipedia on Chafee

And, he did that at the risk of costing more seats in the House.  No wonder Pelosi is Pissed!

No, he has learned absolutely nothing about party loyalty from Hillary!

So, what is his politics here? Is he collecting ThanQ-chits for votes from Republicans and not move on policy matters?

Well, that's one of the very few Dem candidates I would like to see win next week. What a slap that would be to Obama.

Just think if Hillary wouldn't have supported Obama. Hell, she broke her back for him.
