Obama: Master of 'Manufactured Outrage'
by Guy Benson

There are a lot of links in the original article, so it's definitely worth checking out the original, which is here

As the DNC and the White House desperately attempt to marginalize and bully the majority of Americans who oppose the government takeover of healthcare, they're increasingly relying on their media allies to paint the widespread, genuine opposition as "manufactured" outrage voiced by "mobs" of "angry radicals."

It doesn't take a Ph.D. in psychology to conclude this knee-jerk demonization may represent an acute case of projection.  Today's Democratic party is led by a man who spent much of his adult life specializing in the art of public agitation. Acting as a top organizer for radical groups like ACORN, Barack Obama devoted years to prodding underprivileged Chicagoans to channel their political anger by orchestrating activist mob scenes—designed to coerce businesses and elected officials.

In March 2007, the left-leaning New Republic printed a lengthy profile of Obama, entitled "The Agitator."  The entire piece is worth reading, but several excerpts stand out:

...After Obama arrived [in Chicago], he sat down for a cup of coffee in Hyde Park with a fellow organizer named Mike Kruglik. Obama's work focused on helping poor blacks on Chicago's South Side fight the city for things like job banks and asbestos removal. His teachers were schooled in a style of organizing devised by Saul Alinsky, the radical University of Chicago-trained social scientist. At the heart of the Alinsky method is the concept of "agitation"— making someone angry enough about the rotten state of his life that he agrees to take action to change it; or, as Alinsky himself described the job, to "rub raw the sores of discontent."

...[Organizer] Kruglik remembers this episode as an example of why, in ten years of training organizers, Obama was the best student he ever had. He was a natural, the undisputed master of agitation...he could be aggressive and confrontational.

...Obama had already been applying Alinsky's core concepts—rigorous analysis of an opponent's strengths, a hardheaded understanding of self-interest as a fundamental organizing principle, a knack for agitating people to act, and a streetwise sense of when a raw show of power is necessary...

Last year, Stanley Kurtz (famed "right-wing hatchet man/smear merchant") authored a revealing column on Obama's extensive ties to Madeline Talbott, ringleader of some of the most effective/destructive left-wing mob campaigns ever waged:

One key pioneer of ACORN's subprime-loan shakedown racket was Madeline Talbott - an activist with extensive ties to Barack Obama. She was also in on the ground floor of the disastrous turn in Fannie Mae's mortgage policies. Long the director of Chicago ACORN, Talbott is a specialist in "direct action" - organizers' term for their militant tactics of intimidation and disruption. Perhaps her most famous stunt was leading a group of ACORN protesters breaking into a meeting of the Chicago City Council to push for a "living wage" law, shouting in defiance as she was arrested for mob action and disorderly conduct. But her real legacy may be her drive to push banks into making risky mortgage loans.

...And no one has been more supportive of Madeline Talbott than Barack Obama. When Obama was just a budding community organizer in Chicago, Talbott was so impressed that she asked him to train her personal staff.

In those years, he also conducted leadership-training seminars for ACORN's up-and-coming organizers. That is, Obama was training the army of ACORN organizers who participated in Madeline Talbott's drive against Chicago's banks.

More than that, Obama was funding them. As he rose to a leadership role at Chicago's Woods Fund, he became the most powerful voice on the foundation's board for supporting ACORN and other community organizers. In 1995, the Woods Fund substantially expanded its funding of community organizers - and Obama chaired the committee that urged and managed the shift.

Now that ordinary Americans are rising up to voice their concerns before Congress tries to ram through a complex and risky healthcare overhaul, the party run by our Organizer-in-Chief has resorted to slandering those citizens and dismissing the authenticity of their worries.

Obama knows what manufactured outrage looks like.  After all, he spent years as a skilled outrage manufacturer.  Today's frustration, however, is organic, real, and growing.  Therefore, from Obama's perspective, it's extraordinarily threatening and must be stopped at all costs.

HE IS EVERYWHERE!!!

Ask the 85 year old woman who took every TV out of her home and put them on the curb with a sign that said "FREE" When asked why she was giving all her TV's away she replied because Obama is on every channel.
True Story!

BHO is basically, a coward and an egotist. He can't handle confrontation without hundreds to back him up; nor can he accept anyone smearing his image. Now that his approval ratings are going down, and people are finally jumping off his bandwagon and speaking up--he's between a barrock and a hard place.

Too freaking bad. He is being exposed, little by little. I won't doubt he'll get his way for all of the bad legislation he's proposing; we just have to wait and see.

Anyway, one thing is proven. We Americans don't need coaching or training by some greedy trouble maker, we're all pissed individually on our own! That's got to gaul the hell out of DC.

Statement from DNC Communications Director Brad Woodhouse on the Republican Party and Allied Groups' Mob Rule

The Republicans and their allied groups - desperate after losing two consecutive elections and every major policy fight on Capitol Hill - are inciting angry mobs of a small number of rabid right wing extremists funded by K Street Lobbyists to disrupt thoughtful discussions about the future of health care in America taking place in Congressional Districts across the country.

However, much like we saw at the McCain-Palin rallies last year where crowds were baited with cries of 'socialist,' 'communist,' and where the birthers movement was born - these mobs of extremists are not interested in having a thoughtful discussion about the issues - but like some Republican leaders have said - they are interested in 'breaking' the President and destroying his Presidency.

These mobs are bussed in by well funded, highly organized groups run by Republican operatives and funded by the special interests who are desperately trying to stop the agenda for change the President was elected to bring to Washington. Despite the headline grabbing nature of these angry mobs and their disruptions of events, they are not reflective of where the American people are on the issues - or the hundreds of thousands of thoughtful discussions taking place around kitchen tables, water coolers and in homes.

The right wing extremists' use of things like devil horns on pictures of our elected officials, hanging members of Congress in effigy, breathlessly questioning the President's citizenship and the use of Nazi SS symbols and the like just shows how outside of the mainstream the Republican Party and their allies are. This type of anger and discord did not serve Republicans well in 2008 - and it is bound to backfire again.

****************

How dare you call ALL citizens who are concerned about pushing massive, expensive, debt-producing bills through Congress 'rabid right-wing extremists' and citing 'mob rule' because these concerned citizens are finally waking up and standing up for their rights!

It seems Obama and Company used whatever 'mob' means available, including bussing, during the election process (and are still doing so!) to try to push their agenda through.

I, as an American citizen, am sick and tired of massive spending bills being pushed through without OUR elected officials even reading the things to see what is hidden inside. Where is the transparency we were promised by Obama? Where is the 'line-by-line' reading of each bill to omit pork? Where is the change and hope?

The DNC's constant chant of Republican and/or 'Blue Dog' Democratic wrongdoing in trying to delay pushing through yet another bill is what is getting old and is what will most certainly backfire in the face of the Democrats if kept up. Keep on calling Americans 'mobs' and 'rabid extremists' and just see where it gets you! The misogynism and disregard for voter rights displayed during the primary and election lost the DEMS many supporters, and if you keep this up, I'm sure you'll lose many more.

Thank God Americans are beginning to wake up and see what's happening!

BTW, I am NOT a Republican; I'm a staunch Independent!

Obama manufactures outrage like he does every other emotion.  Have we ever seen him truly happy or even sad.  I always think he is a phoney when it comes to emotions.

Good Point.
