Boehner signs health care repeal pledge

Posted by cweiser October 14th, 2010, 4:31 pm

Rep. John Boehner, the Man Who Would be Speaker, has become the highest-ranking Republican to sign a pledge to repeal the new health care law championed by President Obama.

The group RevereAmerica.org, chaired by former New York Gov. George Pataki, announced that Boehner, a West Chester Republican, signed the group’s pledge to ”repeal and replace the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) as soon as possible.”  Boehner hasn’t been shy about his opposition.

===========================

While it is far less than the HCR Act that we wanted, I doubt repeal of this will lead to anything that FAVORS THE PEOPLE if Republicans are implementing it.

I hope to see the provision of a public plan safety net, opening of the state borders and some (but not total) restraint on lawsuits.  These were in the plan that Hillary proposed.

I most certainly do not want to see health care benefits taxed. That is what McCain had proposed and I had called their campaign office and spoken with their health care strategy expert advising very strongly against it.  And, yes, they did listen, and a small tweak was made but nothing substantial to move away from taxing benefits. That from a moderate Republican in McCain. So, let's be cautious before we sign up to repeal and replace.

The sad thing here is regardless of what happens to the PPACA, the presidential signed executive order stands.  The PPACA will never provide benefits for abortion even if it means the physical/mental well being of the mother.  I hope NOW know how wrong they were to endorse Obama over Hillary in the11th inning of the Dem primary campaign.
