US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton today urged China to immediately release activist Liu Xiaobo, the new winner of the Nobel Peace Prize.

Ms Clinton hailed the award of the prize to Liu, who "has been a consistent advocate for fundamental freedoms and human rights for his fellow citizens and for peaceful political reform," according to a statement.

"While China has made tremendous economic progress in the last three decades, political reform has lagged behind," Ms Clinton said.

"As I said in Krakow this summer, governments should recognise the constructive role that citizens such as Liu Xiaobo play," the chief US diplomat said.

"We urge China to uphold its international human rights obligations and to respect the fundamental freedoms and human rights of all Chinese citizens."

I am glad Hillary is urging for the release of Liu Xiaobo.

In honor of Nobel Laureate Liu Xiaobo, let us review and publicize "Chapter 08" that he signed that led to his imprisonment.

"Chapter 08"

Liu Xiaobo 刘晓波 (Beijing, Writer) is the 16th signature on the list at the bottom of "Chapter 08".

Liu Xiaobo is just one of many who are going thru hell in China.  Recognizing him is an honor to all those who signed Chapter 08, and is a major reinforcement of Chapter 08.
