The "true" inside story of why Barack banned the bomb (CNN 4/7/10)

I thought this was funny.

http://ac360.blogs.cnn.com/2010/04/07/the-true-inside-story-of-why-barack-banned-the-bomb/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+rss%2Fcnn_ac360blog+%28Blog%3A+AC360%29

Unless you've been hiding under a rock for the past few days, you know that President Obama has disclosed his plans to sharply curtail the rules of engagement for nuclear weapons.

What you may not know is the "true" story of why. That true story (with a few editorial liberties, of course) is detailed in the following timeline of the events. I know this isn’t April Fools, but this is still just for fun (sometimes the fun stories don’t occur right on April 1).

Near midnight, March 11, Israel snubs Biden

Joe Biden has just returned from Israel, a brutal 12-hour flight. Biden had been expecting to spend his flight time playing with an early release of the iPad, but Apple reneged at the last minute, so the VP had to content himself with playing Scribblenauts on his Nintendo DS.

Biden was even more cranky because Israel had effectively snubbed his diplomatic efforts, announcing a plan to build 1,600 more homes in East Jerusalem, despite Biden's desire to broker a peace.

President Obama: Where's Joe?

Secret Service Agent: Last I saw, he was trying to convince the guy with the football [the always-present case with the nuclear codes] to let him have the codes.

Obama: Send someone to stop him, get him a cup of cocoa, and send him to bed, will ya?

Saturday afternoon, April 3, Karzai's Taliban threat

The previous day, Afghanistan's president Hamid Karzai claimed there was enormous corruption in the process that got him elected. He blamed outside interests and specifically pointed his finger at the United States.

This did not sit well with the U.S., and by Friday night, April 2, he had called U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and apologized for his statements.

Somewhat mollified, Hillary went to bed, only to wake up to the news the very next morning that Karzai not only repeated his claim, but also threatened to join the Taliban if foreigners don't stay out of his way.

President Obama: Has anyone seen Hillary?

Secret Service Agent: Last I saw, she tackled the guy with the nuclear football. There are three agents trying to get her to give it back. That lady sure can throw a punch.

Obama: Someone call Bill and ask him to come pick her up.

Later that night

Barack: This is getting out of hand. No matter what we do, we're snubbed here, insulted there. We're even being back-stabbed by our own party.

Michelle: You know, honey, this is going to get out of hand. Someone's going to get hurt.

Barack: I know. I know.

Michelle: Biden's quick and Hillary's tough. We can't take a chance that either of them will get to the codes before we can calm them down.

Michelle: We've got at least three more years here. You know someone's going to piss them off again, right?

Michelle: You know what you have to do, don't you?

Barack: I know. I know.

And that's the could-almost-be-true, inside story of why President Barack Obama announced plans to sharply curtail America's use of nuclear weapons.

Funny, Jen. If a little jab at Hillary was intended, it missed the mark. lol. She is tough - way tougher than her male colleagues who would do well to try to man-up a little. Biden needs no help being a joke, but the part about him was funny. Thanks for posting this. I'm thinking that before Barack's term is over, he, Michelle, and Joe will have learned a valuable lesson: DON'T MESS WITH HILL.
