A son of former Vice President Dan Quayle announced Friday he is running for Congress in Arizona.
Ben Quayle, 33, hopes to replace retiring Republican Rep. John Shadegg in a Republican-leaning district that covers parts of Phoenix and Scottsdale and some rural areas to the north.
Politicians in Washington are taking the country in the wrong direction, he said.
"It's time for a new generation of leaders to put us back on the right track," he told The Associated Press.
Quayle, a lawyer and managing director of a Scottsdale investment firm, enters a crowded field of at least four other Republicans interested in the seat.
The only Democrat in the race so far is Phoenix lawyer and businessman Jon Hulburd.

Quayle's family has long ties to Arizona and formerly owned The Arizona Republic, the state's largest newspaper.
