Incumbent Pennsylvania Senator Arlen Specter remains barely over 50% but still holds a 15-point lead over his Democratic Primary challenger, Congressman Joe Sestak.
The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of likely Pennsylvania Democratic Primary voters finds Specter, fresh off a Democratic State Committee endorsement, leading Sestak 51% to 36%. Four percent (4%) favor some other candidate, and nine percent (9%) are undecided.
Specter’s support has ranged from 46% and 53% in the earlier polls. Incumbents who fall below 50% on a consistent basis are viewed as vulnerable, but this is the second month in a row where he’s crossed that critical line.
In the five previous Rasmussen Reports polls on the race, Sestak’s support has ranged from 32% to 42%. He was most competitive in October when the numbers showed Specter with 46% of the vote and Sestak at 42%.
Pennsylvania Democrats will pick their Senate nominee in a May 18 primary.
I am not surprised and he will win in Nov. First of all I highly doubt that any other Democraat is going to win the State. Casey won because people were sick of Santurium not paying attention to the State. We are not a blue state. I am glad too because I don't want Sestack in there. I don't care whom he backed in the Primary. I know little or nothing about him. I think Spector will be better for this state. He is more then likely going to be the one who wins. I bet he takes Philly, Allegheny County, and a lot of the central part of the state.
