" Michelle Obama passes on Sarah Palin By AMIE PARNES | 2/9/10 10:58 PM EST
First lady Michelle Obama took a pass when asked her opinion of Sarah Palin during Larry King Live Tuesday night.
Obama said she doesn't "have a read" on the former Alaska governor.
"I try not to set opinions about people that I haven't had a substantive interaction with," the first lady said.
Still, she added, "Democracy is about critique, and the president is not immune to criticism."
When Larry King pressed Obama on Palin once more, the first lady offered: "I think it's wonderful to have strong female voices out there, but I don't know her."
Obama passed up any judgments on the Tea Party movement, too.
"I'm focused on what's in front of me, and right now that's ending childhood obesity in a generation," she said, adding, "I try to limit my intake to things that I can control. I wanna stay focused on work rather than...other things."
