The network confirmed that Ms. Palin will appear on the network’s programming on a regular basis as part of a multi-year deal. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Ms. Palin will not have her own regular program, one person familiar with the deal said, though she will host an occasional series that will run on the network from time to time. This person would not elaborate, but the network does have a precedent for such a series. Oliver L. North is the host of an occasionally running documentary series on the military called “War Stories.”

Many suspected that when Ms. Palin retired as the governor of Alaska last summer she was doing so to pursue some sort of career in television. The Fox News deal, however, would not seem to be all encompassing, and would appear to give her room for other pursuits, as well.

I hope this works out well for Sarah Palin.  It is certainly an opportunity and a mantle from which to influence people, and reshape her image.

Updated: Fox News confirms Sarah Palin is joining as a contributor

January 11, 2010 | 11:26 am

Sarah Palin might not be taking on Oprah, but the one-time GOP vice presidential candidate has made good on predictions that she has a future in television.

The former Alaska governor is joining Fox News as a contributor, an executive at the cable news network said today, confirming news first reported by the New York Times. Palin will appear as a commentator on programs across the network, joining a lineup of pundits that includes fellow conservatives Karl Rove, Newt Gingrich and Mike Huckabee. She will also help host a recurring series that profiles everyday Americans.

With her hiring, Fox News is bringing on a high-profile figure whose controversial pronouncements on issues such as healthcare reform have helped drive sharp partisan debate. The move is likely to boost speculation that Palin, who left office before the end of her first term as governor, wants a platform to remain in the public eye in order to make a bid for the presidency in 2012.

Updated at 12:19 p.m.: “Gov. Palin has captivated everyone on both sides of the political spectrum, and we are excited to add her dynamic voice to the Fox News lineup,” Bill Shine, the network’s executive vice president of programming, said in a statement.

“I am thrilled to be joining the great talent and management team at Fox News,” Palin said. “It’s wonderful to be part of a place that so values fair and balanced news.”

Updated at 12:32 p.m.: Palin will make her first appearance as a contributor Tuesday night on "The O'Reilly Factor," The Times has learned.  (Emphasis added)

After spending five months pondering a fat stack of TV offers, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has signed a multi-year deal with Fox News to serve as a contributor across all Fox News platforms.

“I am thrilled to be joining the great talent and management team at FOX News,” Palin said in the Fox announcement. “It’s wonderful to be part of a place that so values fair and balanced news.”

Palin, often described as having the hottest brand in American politics after President Barack Obama, was eagerly courted by both cable and broadcast networks beginning the day she announced she was leaving the Alaska governorship.

Bill Shine, Fox News’ executive vice president of programming, “Governor Palin has captivated everyone on both sides of the political spectrum and we are excited to add her dynamic voice to the FOX News lineup.”

Fox said Palin will provide political commentary and analysis for Fox News Channel, Fox Business Network, FoxNews.com, and Fox News-produced special event political programming for Fox Broadcasting.

Palin will also host periodic episodes of Fox News’ “Real American Stories,” a series exploring inspirational real-life tales of overcoming adversity throughout the American landscape that will debut in 2010, the network said.

====================================

I like this move by Sarah because she is a trained media professional and has experience in politics. So, hopefully it brings the two together ideally towards building her a launchpad.
