Obama probably gagged her:

The White House should send a search party to track down Hillary Clinton. America’s foreign policy chief has been missing from the world stage for several days, and has become as elusive as the Scarlet Pimpernel at the height of the French Revolution. I wrote earlier in the year that Clinton had become the invisible Secretary of State, and her current absence certainly reinforces that impression.

One would have thought that with a potential revolution on the streets of Tehran, and with scenes of horrific and savage brutality against protesters by the Iranian regime, that Washington’s official voice on international affairs might at least have expressed an opinion. Even Barack Obama took time away from the golf course in Hawaii to comment (albeit rather weakly) on the latest developments in the Middle East’s biggest power, which included over 1,500 arrests by the brutal Iranian security forces and Revolutionary Guards, and the murder of at least ten dissidents.

I’m not aware however of a single statement from a senior official at the State Department on the latest situation in Iran – a disgraceful state of affairs and a huge abdication of responsibility.

Funny how he dresses down the SoS but not Obama. no I doubt she'll be there a year from now, and I can see why.

At present, what happened is a homeland security issue; hence Janet Napolitano is involved.

It is not a foreign policy situation until Pres.Obama decides to take action any action with or towards a specific country.  If he does, then SOS Clinton would be involved.

So, there is absolutely no issue.. except they all want to kick around the muddied waters to revv things up a bit.

One of the main reasons why the world is such a mess is because of the Brits and their damn colonialism. (And the French and their damn colonialism, plus the Spanish, the Dutch, and the Portuguese and their damn colonialism.) After WW2, the USA got saddled with clean-up duty in so many of these poor countries that were once occupied by European superpowers. The Euros love to complain about us, but their lives wouldn't be so cushy right now if we weren't out there defending the entire free world from terrorists and thugs.

As far as Iran goes, I think interference from the U.S. government would give the Islamofascists yet another excuse to murder or imprison the protesters. They would claim that the protesters are under the influence of The Great Satan (as they are so fond of calling us) and therefore must be stopped at all costs. In other words, if we try to help, we may end up hurting the very people we are trying to save. I'm not saying we shouldn't say or do anything at all, but if/when we take action we would have to proceed very carefully.

I do find it kind of strange that we haven't heard anything at all from Hillary since before Christmas. The attempted terrorist attack is a homeland security issue and it's already been established that the State Department did everything they were supposed to do. But even so, I would expect Hillary to at least release a brief statement of some sort. It does make me wonder if something's going on behind the scenes?

Like a departure and hopefully an announcement that she is running against Patterson.  Something is most definately up

It would be too soon for Hillary to resign to challenge Obama for 2012-- I wouldn't expect her to do that until after the 2010 midterms. A Paterson challenge would be more feasible at this time. But if Hillary were working up to something like that, I would expect her to be very out there in New York right now, doing something highly visible if not overtly political.

The only other explanations I can think of is that Hillary is watching the reaction to the attempted terrorist attack very carefully and she figures it's best to lay low and stay far, far away from all the sht that is currently hitting the fan.

We're not the only ones wondering what's going on with Hillary:

http://www.commentarymagazine.com/blogs/index.php/rubin/209252

Maybe she is hiding at home, assuming, correctly, that anyone who shows up on camera (e.g., Janet Napolitano, the president) gets savaged. Maybe she is the fall-gal when we get the “how we messed up” report. (Prediction: It won’t say that treating terrorists like criminal defendants or releasing terrorists to Yemen is a problem.) Or perhaps she is studying up on the 2010 senate and gubernatorial races. There must be a race in some state she could run in and win, right? After all, she is the most admired woman in America (well, she’s in a statistical tie with Sarah Palin). She might not stay that way if she hangs out with the Obami much longer.

Perhaps but she is very popular in NY and she may want to keep any plans to run close to the chest since the Primary in NY is not until September.  Its scary that I know that since I don't live in NY but the NY Primary is in September unless of course they are voting for President.

Hillary spoke up on the blast in Pakistan that killed nearly 100 people including CIA members.. That indeed is in keeping with her role. Glad to see her walk the straight and narrow path on this. Good for you Hillary!

Yeah, I posted an article late last night about Hillary speaking out on Pakistan. That article came out after my previous posts in this thread.
