Whatever he said or didn't say, Bill is a former Democratic President. He is a loyal Dem, though a moderate, not an ultra-left. I know he would like to see health care pass. It was his primary concern as president, until congress killed it.

I don't know what the answer to health care is, certainly not the current bills, but we do need, IMO some kind of health care reform that would allow people to be cared for when ill. Maybe it would start with regulating the health insurance profits, the sinful drug mark-ups, the rampant fraud in Medicaid and Medicare, the outrageous law suits, the even more outrageous doctor charges. There have to be many components. But there has to be a way for the citizens of this country to get health care if they're sick, IMO.

As far as Bill is concerned, I would guess he's put in pretty impossible, difficult situations from time to time, especially since his wife works for the Jack Ass in the WH. Bill needs to use that eloquence to remain as far away from this mess as possible. I mean, the man is a word smith. He can turn a phrase better than anyone in the world. He should be able to figure out how to just distance himself, while not pissing off the party. I hope Hill Buzz is right, and the report is bogus. If not, I won't be that surprised. I think the primary belief by the public is that all the tea partiers are Repubs. And, frankly, that has been the case. Although, as Jen has said several times, there needs to be a PUMA contingent at these events - not to join the conservatives, but in a separate group at the tea parties.

From Hillbuzz (all in quotes):

UPDATE: It has now been confirmed that President Clinton didn’t actually say anything about “teabaggers”, so crazy people who have been sending hate mail to us today need to vacate their Maureen Dowd moment where their indignance over something that was never even actually said confirms how unhinged they are.  Honestly, some of you out there just hate the Clintons so much you must sit on the edge of your seats waiting for either of them to say anything that you can twist and distort.  How many years have you been doing this now?  You realize none of them is the POTUS currently, and the person in that role says and does ACTUAL bad things each and every day.  Apparently, what everyone is worked up about is someone paraphrasing Clinton incorrectly, and totally get wrong what he actually said.  So cool it on all the hate mail to us telling us we should stop supporting a man we’ve campaigned for four times now and have admired since 1990.

Bill knows about reform, and what makes it fail...............and the polls are showing that the dems are now less likely to win the next election, and that Obama is not doing his job well.

They haven't added in this Stupak reaction, I expect the polls for dems will be the worst for this year.

Very well said, Alex, and totally right on.  The level of hatred some people feel for the Clintons is beyond weird, and quite frankly, makes the haters appear to be a little unstable.  I mean, both are moderates.  Both have strong work ethics.  Both are compassionate.  If it's the fact that they're Dems, there are a hell of a lot of Dems who are more liberal than the Clintons. You just have to worry about people who can feel such hatred, and who look for reasons to confirm the validity of that hatred.   Sad and sickening.
