Officials: U.S. Aware of Hasan Efforts to Contact al Qaeda (countusout) 11-09-09

This whole situation becomes increasingly disturbing.  Intelligence agency knew two months ago that Hasan was trying to contact al Quaeda.  But, they may or may not have told the Army.  Then, as if that's not bad enough, when Rep Hoekstra a ranking Repub on House Intel Committee requested a briefing for the committee, the intelligence community said:  Nah, we don't think we'll talk to congress about this!!! AYFKM!!!!!

At what point does protecting info become treason?

Officials: U.S. Aware of Hasan Efforts to Contact al Qaeda
U.S. intelligence agencies were aware months ago that Army Major Nidal Malik Hasan was attempting to make contact with people associated with al Qaeda, two American officials briefed on classified material in the case told ABC News.
It is not known whether the intelligence agencies informed the Army that one of its officers was seeking to connect with suspected al Qaeda figures, the officials said.
Rep. Peter Hoekstra (R-MI), the ranking Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, said that he requested the CIA and other intelligence agencies brief the committee on what was known, if anything, about Hasan by the U.S. intelligence community, only to be refused.
In response, Hoekstra issued a document preservation request to four intelligence agencies. The letter, dated November 7th, was sent to directors Dennis Blair (DNI), Robert Mueller (FBI), Lt. Gen Keith Alexander (NSA) and Leon Panetta (CIA).
Hoekstra said he is “absolutely furious” that the house intel committee has been refused an intelligence briefing by the DNI or CIA on Hasan’s attempt to reach out to al Qaeda, as first reported by ABC News.
“This is a law enforcement investigation, in which other agencies—not the CIA—have the lead,” CIA spokesman Paul Gimigliano said in a response to ABC News. ” Any suggestion that the CIA refused to brief Congress is incorrect.”

You beat me to posting this, FreeSpirit.  What I wondered, after looking at it:

1.  Does the fact that Saudi/Muslim money funds so much U. S.-related stuff have anything to do with this?  Are we too beholden to them?

2.  Is Obama being illegally inserted into the presidency a portent of something much more sinister?

You know Hitler just slid in there, too, and started doing outrageous things, while the populace barely resisted.

How is he different from any other Muslim individual that goes out and just kills people, because they are different from him?  Did they ALL snap?

The congress needs to get some balls and stop funding these adgencies when they don't report to congress.  I bet that would change those people's minds.

Makes you wonder whose side they're on.  And don't military personnel see it as more than a slap in the face to be shunted aside during o-creepazoid's crappy speech?
