We better hear from that Congressman in the news. This happened in his district and he, out of anybody, should be on TV outraged and voicing solutions.

Thank you HMG & Optix! I'm near tears again...........you did a very good thing to bring support to our little sister.

She's out of the hospital, and I heard that some very derogatory comments are being made.
And the worst I heard is that feminist are exploiting this incident, and I can't believe how it's turned into blame the liberals, blame the conservatives. It's pathetic.

Also, thanks for the link to the students who did stop a rape, I had not known about Anza
College, who actually COULD AND DID stop it!

Excellent article, and most urgently needed! This needs to be shouted from the rooftops: "CALL 911 WHEN YOU SEE SOMEONE BEING ACCOSTED!" There is no excuse for not doing something so simple.

Thank you, HMG and Optixmom, for the suggestions on how to take action. I will be calling congresspeople and demanding answers from those in charge, and praying for this precious girl and her family.

Thank you for the nice comments. This story is an outrage and its time that the woman's movement remembers that we are also fighting against violence against women especially rape.

I just called the Unified School District and left a message for a Mr. Trujillo. He is apparently in charge of that sort of thing, and bus passes!

Left a message for the Contra Costa Times editor, saying that I know newspapers can be a great force for good, and that I hope they will do their part to get the students at this school educated about this type of matter.

Most important part: I called Rep. George Miller's Richmond office - no answer, no message machine. I called his Washington DC office. Found out they are leaving it to the Richmond office to get out into the community and "talk to people" about this.

I said that Rep. Miller needs to get out in the public eye and make a statement about this and DO something about it, educationally. He is the - get ready for this - CHAIRMAN OF THE EDUCATION AND LABOR COMMITTEE IN WASHINGTON! So I would encourage Hillary's Worldians to call his office and insist that, starting next week, Rep. George Miller make a public statement and start planning what kind of educational program would be best, or cooperate with the school district to figure that out.

The woman I talked with gave me the impression that where it happened is considered a "bad area," and I said that did not make a difference, that it needs to be helped and that it was obvious that what was being done is not helping, if this kind of thing happens.

Called. They say "there was security around the school" and I asked "So what happened" and instead of answering, I was put through to someone else and that person asked "Do you have a message"! Aaarrrgh!!!

The perpetrators of this attack need to be brought to justice, but I feel that the school is equally at fault. If the school is indeed located in a "bad area", then that gives the administrators even more of a reason to watch over the kids and keep non-students (especially if they're too old to be in high school) off school property. "Bad area" cannot and should not be used as an excuse-- all kids should be safe at their own Homecoming dance, regardless of the crime rate of the surrounding area. I hope the girl's parents file a lawsuit.

As for the bystanders and their cameras... I posted my thoughts on them over at The New Agenda. In my book, they're as evil as the rapists themselves.
