They are not willing to "reduce crime time", oh, they give out the numbers, and look at it and
say we support it, and do nothing. They are reasoning it away because of economic insecurities. BS.

This is so disturbing and unreal. It's got to change.

I totally agree, HMG16. The wealthy users buy cocaine. The poor ones buy crack. Both of these illegal drugs should be viewed with equal seriousness and criminal liability. Good for Durbin.

In rural areas like mine, crystal meth is a huge problem. I was at a lecture recently in which the speaker, a narcotics officer, said that people are now making this stuff without having to cook it, as they did in the recent past. They make it in a 1 liter soft drink bottle, using lithium battery strips to do the "cooking". It can be made in a car, hotel room (be careful where you stay) - anywhere. Lots of kids being taken into custody by the state due to parents producing this stuff - either with at home labs or portable ones. It's destroying many, many lives, and kids who are present when the drug is "cooked" can suffer chemical burns in the lungs and on the outside of their bodies.

Didn't mean to get ot, hmg16. I just think we have really missed the boat in this country with regard to drug penalties. People who abuse illegal drugs need help. People who manufacture and sell it need a prison sentence, as do drug abusers who commit crimes to get drug money, or as a result of being under the influence. JMHO
