Kenyan-born Obama all set for US Senate

Kenyan-born US Senate hopeful, Barrack Obama, appeared set to take over the Illinois Senate seat after his main rival, Jack Ryan, dropped out of the race on Friday night amid a furor over lurid sex club allegations.

The allegations that horrified fellow Republicans and caused his once-promising candidacy to implode in four short days have given Obama a clear lead as Republicans struggled to fetch an alternative.

Ryan’s campaign began to crumble on Monday following the release of embarrassing records from his divorce. In the records, his ex-wife, Boston Public actress Jeri Ryan, said her former husband took her to kinky sex clubs in Paris, New York and New Orleans.

"It’s clear to me that a vigorous debate on the issues most likely could not take place if I remain in the race," Ryan, 44, said in a statement. "What would take place, rather, is a brutal, scorched-earth campaign – the kind of campaign that has turned off so many voters, the kind of politics I refuse to play."

Although Ryan disputed the allegations, saying he and his wife went to one ‘avant-garde’ club in Paris and left because they felt uncomfortable, lashed out at the media and said it was "truly outrageous" that the Chicago Tribune got a judge to unseal the records.

The Republican choice will become an instant underdog in the campaign for the seat of retiring Republican Senator Peter Fitzgerald, since Obama held a wide lead even before the scandal broke.

"I feel for him actually," Obama told a Chicago TV station. "What he’s gone through over the last three days I think is something you wouldn’t wish on anybody."

The Republican state committee must now choose a replacement for Ryan, who had won in the primaries against seven contenders. Its task is complicated by the fact that Obama holds a comfortable lead in the polls and is widely regarded as a rising Democratic star.

The chairwoman of the Illinois Republican Party, Judy Topinka, said at a news conference, after Ryan withdrew, that Republicans would probably take several weeks to settle on a new candidate.

"Obviously, this is a bad week for our party and our state," she said.

As recently as Thursday, spokesmen for the Ryan campaign still insisted that Ryan would remain in the race. Ryan had defended himself saying, "There’s no breaking of any laws. There’s no breaking of any marriage laws. There’s no breaking of the Ten Commandments anywhere."

I was just about to post this very same article here, but you beat me to it, NBCitizen.

Of course, the obots will say that the newspaper made a mistake blahblahblah. Y'all know how that goes.

It's even more crazy than that.  The people that I have spoken to say that they don't care where he was born, "he is going to make change and the 8 years before him is a nightmare clean-up job for him, because of Bush".
I feel like anyone who defends him, is a total idiot!!!!!!

Destiny,
My aunt repeated that same I-don't-care-where-he-was-born mantra almost word for word. This was back in January, when 0 first got inaugurated. I didn't initiate the discussion, but my aunt kept going on and on about how awful Bush was, including something she'd heard about how he skipped his National Guard training back in the 1960s-- she emphasized how absolutely no one who was at the base at that time can remember Bush being there. I countered that nobody knows anything about 0's past, including where he was born. That's when my aunt pulled the it-doesn't-matter-where-he-was-born-two-legs-bad-four-legs-good business. She was actually a Hillary supporter, but she's all about Party loyalty. Plus, if I say anything she'll say the opposite just because she thinks I'm stupid.

No one could possibly think that, IMO, Jen.  She's probably just one of those oppositional devil's advocate people.  And I've never heard a more appropriate phrase - "devil's advocate" - for a situation.

Thanks so much, NBCitizen.  I've never sent an article to the media so fast!wink  OMG, I see that you posted it Wednesday.  Sorry I didn't see it sooner!

Jen,  My mom called me last night and said the exact same thing about her cousin.  She was so angered by her and frustrated that she said, "I think that she is brainwashed by the media".  My mom does not have a computer and watches TV all day and night and yet what little I have told her and getting that the media is a lying machine, she gets it.
So, my point is, is that your aunt is brainwashed.  50% of the American population can be brainwashed.  Marketing firms have promotion items demonstrated to a 100 people and on the average, half will buy the product. The brainwashed are very defensive, and that is why they call us names and 'think we are stupid'.  That is how you can recognize
a person who has been brainwashed.  The advise I had given to my mom, is to stay away (as much as possible) and don't engage in conversations about the jack@ss.  She told me that it will be easier to avoid her cousin, than not to talk against the @ss.

It's really sad that this election has outed all these people who have weak minds.  It's even more sad that we have to live with them.

A few days ago, I bumped into a woman who I have been friends with off and on (for the past 10 years), and she started telling me how everyone should give ovomit a chance and stop judging him.  She said, "after all, he's only been president for a short time and Bush left him a horrible mess".  And, I said,"wasn't he watching the news and didn't he pay attention to what was going on while he was in the Senate".  And, she said, "how was he to know how much of a mess was hidden".  There is no reasoning with his cult-like, brainwashed supporters.  She asked if I could get together for lunch and I said I didn't have any free time (I wanted to say, "no, I can never have lunch with you, I'm expected back on planet earth".

Ugh, I don't blame you for not wanting to do lunch with the obot. It would be one thing if obot friends and relatives could agree not to talk politics, but they seem to love injecting his name into every possible conversation, especially when they're talking to people like us.

Today my poor mother had to sit and listen to my aunt yammering on and on about how wonderful it is that 0 won the Nobel Prize. And my aunt knows Mom can't stand the fraud, so I can't see any reason to bring him up at all, unless my aunt is deliberately trying to pick a fight. Thankfully, I wasn't there.

But my aunt is married to a Republican, so it's not as if she gets to go home and listen to someone echo her beliefs.

Jen, Your story made me think of an idea.  I wonder if your mom would be able to 'mess' with your aunt the next time they get together.  For example, your mom can have sound bites at the ready.  Such as, "it's Bush's fault", "I feel sorry for him", "he has so much on his plate", "it's an impossible job", "people should give him a break, after all it's only been 10 months".  I know I wouldn't be able to do it, because I wouldn't be able to control my laughter.  And, yes, she is trying to start a fight (for whatever reason), any one of those sound bites would cut your aunt's conversation about the @ss to a dead stop.

And, if your aunt's husband is a true Republican and hates oblabla, god put your aunt in that relationship to be punished for what she is doing to your mom.  Karma.

I would add to that plan, if I may.  Once you lull her into a sense of false security with these phrases, bring up the usurper's hypocrisy on ALL subjects, also in little, palatable sounds bites.  There's probably not ONE AREA about which o-ineligible has not lied to the American people, or brought in some kind of wacko to oversee a department or project.  But the whole time you have to seem sympathetic and supportive of her position.

Sounds like fun, but be careful, and, if you want, let us know what happens!  And anyone can use this plan, so maybe we'll hear back from others...we have actual FACTS on our side!wink

LOL on talking like a concern troll with my aunt! My mom and I are both too hot-headed to pull it off. But my cousin could do it-- she's an evangelical Christian, so she has the Lord on her side.

I spoke to an old friend of mine last night (o supporter), we hadn't spoken in over a year.
I could tell that he was nervous to bring up o, so I did.
The first thing I said was, "wow, this guy is really being picked on, huh?" And, then my friend went on and on about how he cried when o got elected.  He said that he felt disappointed now.  When I brought up the BC issue, he defended o.  So then, I said, "I guess he made a lot of promises?" And, that was all I had to say.  He went on a 10 min. rant.  I took Alex's idea and mentioned a couple general rants of my own, being careful not scare the poor cult member back up o's @ss.  I also had to stop myself from saying, "I told you so".
I could only pull this off because I was on the phone with this old friend, my emotions jumped back and forth from anger to glee to anger.  I wouldn't have been able to hold it together in person, because really, I was mocking him.

It's really a sad situation, because in my heart, I can't truly forgive my so-called friends for hating on Hillary and adoring this jack@ss.

Destiny, you are amazing!  This is what the true definition of a "teachable moment" is.  We are appearing as sympathetic as is humanly possible, given what we know about what the usurper and his cronies have done to our great country.  We are helping.

We've seen that these people are not open to rational discussion about their liah mess-iah, so we've taken steps to break through the cult member-like wall they have built up to protect themselves against the truth.  It's a worthy cause, because we love our friends.  Hey, my husband is somewhat of an obot, and I'm certainly not going to give up on him!  Likewise for sisters, brothers, and even people we enjoy seeing when we go out, like at businesses or whatever.

We deserve to have our people back!  And I think this might be a good way to do it.  It's interesting that you said it was good you were on the phone, 'cause otherwise you couldn't have pulled it off.  I feel similarly, as I would have a hard time controlling my expressions.  But I bet we could do it, and there will certainly be thousands of opportunities.

And it may be our only hope for helping o-zombies wake up to true hope and change, to see that other people recognize what they're going through, because of the bad choice they made.  We are big enough people to try and do that! petting.gif

But we're not concern "trolls" - maybe "TM's" - Truth Missionaries!  Sounds like a definite adventure...wink
