"Nobel Stunner: Obama Wins Peace Prize" - (AP/Yahoo) 10/09/2009

I think it was political, and the timing shows it. Right now the general needs the troops and obama is stalling. They give him the peace prize. What can he do now? Send the needed troops, or try to be the "peace man" and let it all be for nothing.

This also comes right after he said the taliban should have a part of the country. So, he is either  "mr peace man" and let our troops die for nothing, let the taliban again over-run the middle east, or he grows a spine and does what is best for THIS nation, not the world.

The peace prize has hamstrung him.

Here is drinkingwithbob's take on it:

Nobel Peace Prize is Officially a Joke... (10/9/09)

What's next? I'll tell you what's next...

Barack Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize! Barack Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize!! Are you freaking kidding me?!!

Are we living in an alternate universe? Are we in bizarro land? Somebody pinch me cause I'm having a freaking nightmare! I know what you're all saying, Bob why are you so upset? The nobel peace prize doesn't mean anything. Al Gore won it. Jimmy Carter won it. It's useless. It's like winning a gold medal in the special olympics, nobody cares. Well you know what? I care!!

It's an insult to every living breathing person in this world that this guy gets an award for doing nothing! Absolutely nothing!! This is like giving somebody a high school diploma on their first day of kindergarten! Are you freaking kidding me?!!

What's next? Do I open the paper tomorrow? Do I turn on the news and see that Snap, Crackle and Pop were given an award for culinary excellence? Do I see that Roman Polanski was given an award for all the great work he's done with children over the years? Do I see that Cayle Anthony's mom just got awarded Mother of the Year? Or that Mary Kay Letourneau was awarded Educator of the Century? Are you freaking kidding me?!!

Barack Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize?

FOR WHAT?!!
FOR WHAT?!!!

what's next?! What's next?!! what's next?!!!

How embarrassing for the fraud, his thugs and us real Americans. Shame on the Nobel Prize committee--this only proves there are political hacks all over the planet. Dig deep, and we'll find money/power/Islamic extremists behind this ridiculous charade.

Even Obots in the hood know that fool didn't deserve no peace prize.  Unbelievable.  This may actually bite that fool in the butt.

I think it has already bitten 0 in the butt. For nearly two years, nobody has been able to see what we've been seeing, but now they do, thanks to the Nobel committee. Our "emperor has no clothes" chorus has many new members-- including some from the press.

Plus, we all know that narcissists like 0 hate to be mocked, and people everywhere are mocking him now. Only the staunchest obots believe he deserved this award and even most of them are being paid to say so.

Maybe the funniest quote I've seen regarding this, and it comes from Jay Leno and the New York Times!!  Thanks to HMG for posting the story on the "Another Fine Mess" thread - I forgot that's where I got the link - it's been a long morning. wink

“That’s pretty amazing, winning the Nobel Peace Prize,” Jay Leno said, first out of the box Friday night. “Ironically, his biggest accomplishment as president so far ... winning the Nobel Peace Prize.”

“That’s pretty amazing, winning the Nobel Peace Prize,” Jay Leno said, first out of the box Friday night. “Ironically, his biggest accomplishment as president so far ... winning the Nobel Peace Prize.”

HERE ARE SOME OTHER JOKES FROM THE LATE NIGHT CROWD:

The Jay Leno Show● Congratulations to Barack Obama — he has won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize. Apparently, the Nobel committee wanted to recognize the president’s fine work in bringing peace to a black professor and a white cop through the strategic use of beer.

● President Obama said he was humbled to win the prize. Not as humble as he was when Rio got the Olympics. But still humble.

● President Obama said he will go to Oslo, Norway to collect the award. Roman Polanski said, “It’s a trick — don’t go; you’ll be arrested.”

● That’s pretty amazing, winning the Nobel Peace Prize. Ironically, his biggest accomplishment as president so far . . . winning the Nobel Peace Prize.

The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien

● Today, President Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. The committee said they gave it to Obama partly for his idealism and commitment to global cooperation, but mostly for calling Kanye West a jackass.

● It’s a great honor for America that Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize. Unfortunately, our economy is so bad, Obama’s already been forced to trade the medal in at “Cash 4 Gold.”

● President Obama’s Nobel Peace Prize comes with $1.4 million in cash. Or as Fox News reported it, “Obama Caught Taking Bribe from Swedish Government.”

Late Show with David (JACK@SS) Letterman

Late Show Top Ten

Top Ten Signs You Won't Win A Nobel Prize

10. You invented swine flu
9. Misspelled "Nobel" and "Prize" on application
8. Mathematics paper notes "all figures approximate"
7. There's no Nobel Prize for napping
6. Your peacemaking efforts focused on Jon and Kate
5. You're up against Tina Fey — she wins everything!
4. Only prize you've ever won was for eating 68 hot dogs in 10 minutes
3. Devoted your life to creating a sushi that will still allow Jeremy Piven to act
2. Only medical experience? Sticking a needle in A-Rod's ass
1. Barack Obama flew to Sweden to plead on your behalf

Jimmy Kimmel Live!● Big news: We bombed the moon this morning. We sent a missile into its surface. That’s gotta be a lesson to North Korea and Iran — we bombed the moon for no good reason at all.

● A day after declaring war on the moon, President Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

● Vice president Biden was awarded the Nobel Hair-Piece Prize.

● Along with his trophy, the president will receive $1.4 million in prize money . . . so say hello to a whole new closet of mom jeans everybody.

Late Night with Jimmy Fallon

● Congratulations to President Obama, who won the Nobel Peace Prize this morning. That’s quite an accomplishment. I’m sure he’ll pick it up as soon as he’s finished fighting two wars.

● Along with the Nobel Peace Prize President Obama also gets $1.4 million. Usually to get a check that big you need to blackmail David Letterman.

● The White House admitted that they made a mistake by not inviting women to play in President Obama’s basketball game last night. Although it would have made “shirts vs. skins” a little awkward.

● The women really wanted to play. Nancy Pelosi had her game face on. Of course, when does she not have her game face on?

I would have actually had respect for him had he politely turned it down. But no, his ego is in outer space.

He cannot fight this war AND accept this prize. What is he going to do???

AP Newsbreak: Nobel jury defends Obama decision

AP
FILE - In this Oct. 9, 2009, file photo President Barack Obama speaks aboutAP – FILE - In this Oct. 9, 2009, file photo President Barack Obama speaks about being awarded the Nobel Peace …

OSLO – Members of the Norwegian committee that gave Barack Obama the Nobel Peace Prize are strongly defending their choice against a storm of criticism that the award was premature and a potential liability for the U.S. president.

Asked to comment on the uproar following Friday's announcement, four members of the five-seat panel told The Associated Press that they had expected the decision to generate both surprise and criticism.

Three of them rejected the notion that Obama hadn't accomplished anything to deserve the award, while the fourth declined to answer that question. A fifth member didn't answer calls seeking comment.

"We simply disagree that he has done nothing," committee chairman Thorbjoern Jagland told the AP on Tuesday. "He got the prize for what he has done."

Jagland singled out Obama's efforts to heal the divide between the West and the Muslim world and scale down a Bush-era proposal for an anti-missile shield in Europe.

"All these things have contributed to — I wouldn't say a safer world — but a world with less tension," Jagland said by phone from Strasbourg, where he was attending meetings in his other role as secretary-general of the Council of Europe.

Aagot Valle, a left-wing Norwegian politician who joined the Nobel panel this year, also dismissed suggestions that the decision to award Obama was without merit.

"Don't you think that comments like that patronize Obama? Where do these people come from?" Valle said by phone from the western coastal city of Bergen. "Well, of course, all arguments have to be considered seriously. I'm not afraid of a debate on the peace prize decision. That's fine."

In Friday's announcement, the committee said giving Obama the peace prize could be seen as an early vote of confidence intended to build global support of the policies of his young administration.

The left-leaning committee whose members are appointed by the Norwegian Parliament lauded the change in global mood wrought by Obama's calls for peace and cooperation, and praised his pledges to reduce the world stock of nuclear arms, ease U.S. conflicts with Muslim nations and strengthen the country's role in combating climate change.

However, the decision stunned even the most seasoned Nobel watchers. They hadn't expected Obama, who took office barely two weeks before the Feb. 1 nomination deadline, to be seriously considered until at least next year.

Anne sent this to me.

How to Win the Nobel Peace Prize In 12 Days

Let’s take a look at the president’s first 12 days in the White House according to his public schedule to see what he did to deserve a Nobel Peace Prize.

Barack Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize this morning. Over the last decade the only requirement to win the prize was that the nominee had to be critical of George W. Bush (see Al Gore, Mohamed El Baradei20and Jimmy Carter).
President Obama has broken new ground here. Nominations for potential winners of the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize ended on February 1. The president took office only 12 days earlier on January 20.
Let’s take a look at the president’s first 12 days in the White House according to his public schedule to see what he did to deserve a Nobel Peace Prize:
January 20: Sworn in as president. Went to a parade. Partied.
January 21: Asked bureaucrats to re-write guidelines for information requests. Held an “open house” party at the White House.
January 22: Signed Executive Orders: Executive Branch workers to take ethics pledge; re-affirmed Army Field Manual techniques for interrogations; expressed desire to close Gitmo (how’s that working out?)
January 23: Ordered the release of federal funding to pay for abortions in foreign countries. Lunch with Joe Biden; met with Tim Geithner.
January 24: Budget meeting with economic team.
January 25: Skipped church.
January 26: Gave speech about jobs and energy. Met with Hillary Clinton. Attended Geithner's  swearing in ceremony.
January 27: M et with Republicans. Spoke at a clock tower in Ohio.
January 28: Economic meetings in the morning, met with Defense secretary in the afternoon.
January 29: Signed Ledbetter Bill overturning Supreme Court decision on lawsuits over wages. Party in the State Room. Met with Biden.
January 30: Met economic advisers. Gave=2 0speech on Middle Class Working Families Task Force. Met with senior enlisted military officials.
January 31: Took the day off.
February 1: Skipped church. Threw a Super Bowl party.
So there you have it. The short path to the Nobel Peace Prize: Party, go to meetings, skip church, release federal funding to pay for abortions in foreign countries, party some more.

This was just sent to me by my

brother.  Clearly, obama is helping

to make our relations in the world a complete nightmare.

Just a friendly gathering in London..

Makes you wonder doesn't it...can you

imagine having a Christian

demonstration against Islam in

downtown Baghdad !

View the pictures below and decide

how you really feel about the future

of the Western World.
These pictures are of Muslims marching

through the STREETS OF LONDON during

their recent 'Religion of Peace

Demonstration.'

Why would anyone think that we should

be at war with such nice, peaceful

Muslims?!
All Christians need to know.

You need to forward this one to everyone!

These pictures tell it all!
Muslims have stated that England will

be the first country they take over!
These are pictures not shown on

American TV or in American Newspapers ,

but were forwarded by a Canadian

who thought All Christians ought to know!

More Late Night jokes:

The Jay Leno Show

      ● Congratulations to President Barack Obama, he won the Nobel Peace Prize. Don't get too excited, he hasn't actually collected it yet. Let's see if he can follow through on this. Remember the last time he flew to Europe for that Olympic thing . . that was a sure thing too.

The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien

      ● Earlier today, the Nobel Prize for Economics was awarded to a woman for the first time ever. So congratulations, Michelle Obama . . .

Late Night with Jimmy Fallon

      ● Yesterday morning Pope Benedict named five new saints to the Catholic Church. Though some are questioning whether Obama really deserved it.
