I am writing this thread because I am angry. I pay my mortage and am not even behind but because of the way this house was built I have no direct access to either my waterlines or my gaslines they are located in an abondoned building on another street. The houses are in bad shape because of the first house owned by HUD. They never took care of this house after they owned it and of course when it fell apart it made the other two houses fall. Now there is no way I can have this problem fixed before winter so I have to move. I am frustrated because I have been trying to get help for a long time but no one seems to know what to do about this situation. How come the Federal Government doesn't have to take care of the houses that it owns? I bet if John Q Public has to take care of the property that it owns why doesn't HUD. There is no way that this house should have ever been allowed to get into this shape. Grr I am just so frustrated here and I am suing perhaps I can at least force HUD to take care of the properties it owns. Thanks for listening.

Oh, no! I hope you are successful with your suit. And God bless you as far as moving. I think when S/He shuts a door S/He opens a window. I picture a great window of opportunity for you and yours, HMG, though it may not seem that way now.

Hmg, I hope you are taking pics and documenting as much as possible about this crap. How unbelievable that you would have to be forced from your home because the other structures have been allowed to run down. If you want to send out some letters to the editor calling attention to this absurd mishandling of federal property and money, which has resulted in displacing residents who have kept their property up, I'm sure we would be happy to help with that.
We'll be Hmg's rapid responders, and fire those letters out.

That's an excellent idea! Lots of time action is taken because of letters by angry tenants/customers.

Not quite sure what to say to that, but you are one of the toughest, coolest people I know. You will show your daughter how to get through this with grace, and how to find the best in the situation. I hear God tests those S/He loves, and S/He loves you a lot! I know S/He will lift you both up, and hold you in Her hands.

I am so sorry to hear about what has happened to you. You are absolutely right - HUD SHOULD have to take care of the properties they own, just as banks should have to take care of properties they own. Unfortunately, no one seems to take them to task for this. I've often wondered what in the heck we can do to force entities to take care of properties.
I just want you to know that I am giving you a huge hug and keeping you in my prayers!!
You will get through it. Just remember to relax and not take too much on. I have dealt with similar situations with moving and they bring on a lot of anxiety and stress. I'm praying everything goes alright.
