biggrin I wonder if I'm the only one here who thinks this might have a little something to do with that "Rasmussen primary challenger 2012" thread?

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2009/09/08/clintons-advice-to-obama-forget-about-republicans/

(CNN) — As President Obama gets set to address a joint-session of Congress on the issue of health care reform Wednesday night, former President Clinton says it's time to forget about the Republican Party's role in the process entirely.

"The president's doing the right thing. It is both morally and politically right," Clinton told Esquire Magazine in an interview published online Tuesday. "I wouldn't even worry about the Republicans. I'd worry about executing."

Though it increasingly appears the White House will win few if any Republican votes on a final health care bill, some members of the GOP say they remain open to supporting a potential version legislation, including Arizona Sen. John McCain.

"I look forward to what he specific proposals are," the former Obama rival said last week. "I think the disappointment a lot of Americans display is that we are not working together more."

Still, Clinton said Obama's chief worry should be ensuring the entire Senate Democratic caucus (59 members with the death of Sen. Ted Kennedy) is in support of the reform legislation, including Democrats from more conservative states, like Kay Hagan of North Carolina and Mary Landrieu of Louisiana.

"This electorate has suffered…and what they don't know is whether our guys are going to stand and deliver. And sooner or later you've got to stand and deliver," said Clinton.

The former president also compared Obama's initial months on office to his own perilous beginning, but predicted the current commander-in-chief would succeed where he had failed.

"Do I think he's doing the right thing, even though he's jamming a lot of change down the system? I do," he also said. "So there's a lot that's like my first year, but it's going to have a different ending — he's going to get health care reform.

THIS coming from the master of triangulation makes it less believable.  And the carefully crafted words he chose to use.

I read that and I am not sure what to think about this myself.

I used to really respect Bill Clinton... if this is his way to sink that illegible fraud for all he did to backstab Hillary... then I am all for it.. (by Bill Clinton giving really bad advise in a concern sounding way)

HOWEVER...

if Bill Clinton actually meant this in genuine seriousness, then I have lost all respect for this man!

The Pubs are representing their constituents, and their constituents want them to vote NO, so that is what they are doing.  I agree with you ssmith, if Bill is double talking O to get back at him then fine.   But he is truly misguided if he thinks that ignoring the Pubs is going to win anything.  I thought O and all of his Omnipotence was supposed to bring everyone together, find a common thread, not be the partisan politician. *insert heavenly music here* I guess he realized that it would take effort and that was a deal breaker.

ssmith, I agree.

First, let me say that I have always thought highly of Bill Clinton.

But, I am so tired of these political "games" and "double talk" . . .  In all seriousness, it is not a time to be playing "language games".  If, he is honestly saying how he feels, I absolutely can not support it . . . no way.

Our country is facing serious issues right now.  It is not a time to play "guess what I am really saying" game.  There are really not any real excuses for supporting something that will fundamentally change America as we know it, unless you support such a drastic change toward socialism/socialized medicine.  Many people take things literally and respect Bill Clinton . . . this was the wrong message to be sending to the general public . . . in my opinion.

I really think that Bill Clinton is giving BO bad advise.  I am sorry but if Barack is that stupid then he deserves to be played.  Its horrible advise especially when you ran as the Uniter.  Bill also knows that Health care is a death warrent for any president that made it a single issue. Bill Clinton was able to turn it around but then again he had welfare reform and a Republican congress which made it easier to get passed.

I don't think Bill really holds that opinion! Their are dynamics involved that we are not privy to.

I think Pres. Clinton needs to just shut up and let his wife HRC do her job without him trying to steal the limelight every 5 seconds. HRC was in NYC today --- where is the press on her? No Where, because Pres. Clinton ran to the aid of Pres. Obama. I sorry but Bill is starting to show me he is another Prince Charles. Charles was all fine and happy with his beautiful young wife getting him lots of face time and positive press. But as soon as Princess Diana started to be really liked and UPSTAGED him --- he acted like a pouting fool.

Pres. Clinton needs to go to Haiti for his Ambassadorship and stay OUT of the MSM. He needs to do for Hillary what she did for him -- smile nicely and NOT be a distraction.

Friends, this is the last deal breaker for me. Sorry, but I can't have faith in him anymore. He knows damn well the situation of the economy, and yet he supports BHO's pork filled health care plan?

No more.

"The president's doing the right thing. It is both morally and politically right," Clinton told Esquire Magazine in an interview published online Tuesday. "I wouldn't even worry about the Republicans. I'd worry about executing."

I agree B4112.  I'm reserving judgment on this one.  Many unknowns.

Plus, Bill, of all people, wants health care reform.  And, this country needs it.

There are numerous problems with O's plan, a primary one being that he, Pelosi, and others initiated this whole process by trying to rush it through.  Coming on the heels of the mega-money -rushed through at the speed of light - stimulus, this was, obviously absurd.  Trust and support were absent.  People didn't know enough about what health care reform would look like under O's plan.  There were many flaws in the ever-changing proposals, the Dems offered up, including the omission of the very important issue of tort reform.  Then there was the  talk about "end of life" options, the concerns about Medicare, on and on - many problems.

In my view, we do need health care reform - but REAL reform,  not the expensive,
poorly thought out  plan of O and the Dems.   Bill Clinton certainly understands what is needed to make decent health care available, accessible, and affordable to the people of this country.  Hillary knows more about this issue than anyone one the planet - yet, O chose not to involve her with the issue on which she worked so diligently. There's no way in hell this is lost on Bill.

I'll reserve judgement simply because who knows what Bill has going on in the back of his mind. BUT, if he in fact DOES mean what is said here I have only one thing to say - STFU BILL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
