Obama 'green jobs' adviser quits amid controversy (AP 9/6/09) Van Jones Quits

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama's environmental adviser Van Jones, who became embroiled in a controversy over past inflammatory statements, has resigned his White House job after what he calls a "vicious smear campaign against me."

The resignation, announced early Sunday, came as Obama is working to regain his footing in the contentious health care debate.

Jones, an administration official specializing in environmentally friendly "green jobs" with the White House Council on Environmental Quality was linked to efforts suggesting a government role in the 2001 terror attacks and to derogatory comments about Republicans.

Jones issued an apology on Thursday for his past statements. When asked the next day whether Obama still had confidence in him, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said only that Jones "continues to work in the administration."

The matter surfaced after news reports of a derogatory comment Jones made in the past about Republicans, and separately, of Jones's name appearing on a petition connected to the events surrounding the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks. That 2004 petition had asked for congressional hearings and other investigations into whether high-level government officials had allowed the attacks to occur.

Great news!

One radical czar down and around 36 more to go . . .

This would not have happened without Glenn Beck and Fox News.

What is amazing . . . well, really not, . . .  is that msm has not carried any real coverage of this at all.  Leading up to today there was one slight mention from CBS, but NBC and ABC remained silent.  Wonder how they will spin the resignation or if they will report on it at all . . .

The man is a founder of colorofchange.  I didn't know that. I am glad Glenn Beck went after this man.  Its time to stop playing the race card.  I wish rich black people had to undergo real racism then they wouldn't be so quick to play race games.

The first time that the name "Van Jones" is ever mentioned in the past 30 days in the New York Times is today, Sept. 6.  Other MSM newspapers followed a similar program.

This is going to be spinned as a right-wing smear campaign taking down a wonderful man.  Since people that never watched Fox News and get all their info from the NY Times, Washington Post, etc.  had no idea that there even was a controversy over Van Jones until today, it will be very easy to spin those people any way they want.

"But he said he cannot in good conscience ask his colleagues to spend time and energy defending or explaining his past. " VAN JONES

VAN JONES says this .....and he is a poor put upon unfairly maligned hard working fully qualified member of the administration... Sarah Palin says it and she is somehow a " quitter ".

Misogyny is amazing isn't it.......

This is true.

However, this also proves that we don't really need msm to "get the word out" and accomplish something.  This happened without msm . . . there were only "crickets" to be heard from them.  And, yet Fox News and Beck were able to make this big enough that Van Jones had to resign.  In my opinion, msm may be losing their relevance.  And, Fox News is growing in power and relevance.

Last week Charlie Gibson announced he was retiring, did anyone really care?  In the past, this would have been a big news topic . . . "CBS Anchor Retiring".  The tide is slowly changing.

One thing that does bother me about all of this, will Van Jones still have the Obama's ear, even though he is not officially in the administration now . . . .  I suspect that the answer is "yes".  Van Jones can not be forgotten now, just because he resigned . . .

Hey Van,
how did that boycott campaign against Glen Beck workout for you??
Last I heard, Beck still has a job.

Let me state for the record that I am no fan of Mr. Beck and have much to dislike about him. However, I will give him kudos for being the first and most persistent media personality to expose that marxist racist. Good job Glen!

What comes to mind is the song "I feel like dancing".

Did you hear Howard Dean? He points to this man's law degree and his best seling book, and that Van did not know what he was signing 9/11..............
I am so very sick and tired of Howard, and his BIG LIES.

. . .  you make me feel like dancin', gonna dance the night away, I feel like dancing!Ooh! Dancing! Ahhhhhhhh . . .

It sure does. I saw Van Jones little poor me speech, doesn't the communist realize he hung himself with his own words? These people really must live in a bubble and need to get a clue that most Americans see them as far-left whackjobs. But as I said in another thread, Van Jones says what Obama thinks and the media will  protect Obama at all costs. At least they should take this as a warning to leave Glenn Beck alone, stay out of THOSE crosshairs.

And has ANYONE made mention that ANOTHER Oasshat selection has to resign because of issues surrounding their past?  Do people who are still supporting Omoron not realize that the guy has the worst judgment EVER when it comes to people he associates with???????????
