This article is good and unfortunity true. Six women were murdered and three were still missing from Rocky Mount, NC and no one notices. They were all poor, black, sex workers. Sex workers are usually chosen by serial killers because often times they are not missed by families.
Thank you for your mention of these forgotten people. They too were moms, sisters, aunts and daughters.
But if their status had been different: had they hobnobbed with the elite, or had invested in the markets phenomenally or if they had their name in lights, then everyone would notice and chatter would be every where.
As La Macha writes in the VivirLatino post “When Sex Workers Aren’t White and Beautiful,” the “Craigslist killer,” who murdered sex workers, was huge news, and the police put valuable resources into finding the man responsible. Which of course isn’t to say that every time a sex worker is murdered, it hits the national media, and police launch a full-scale investigation — not by a very long shot, and that’s exactly why sex workers are disproportionately targets for murderers. Further, even when a sex worker’s murder is covered by the media, it’s almost universally accompanied by disgust and disdain against the victim, and attempts to titillate the audience. But when a serial murder goes on a killing spree, no matter how utterly terrible the reporting is, we do tend to hear about it, and the police do tend to sit up and take notice. When those things don’t happen, the reasons are generally pretty clear.
I heard recently that Louis Armstrong was the illegitimate son of a prostitute.
Such hypocrisy -- we condemn women who becomes sex workers and meanwhile porn is a multi-billion dollar industry, and states that consume the most porn tend to be more conservative and religious. Eight of the top 10 pornography consuming states gave their electoral votes to John McCain in last year's presidential election. The people who are most outraged turn out to be consumers of the very things they claimed to be outraged by. I guess if you're told you can't have it, you want it all the more.

What about Christian and Newsom murders? Now that is a media ignoring a pure hate crime. If we going to race base lets race base correctly.Has any feminist come out for that ?I think not

Poor White women are also ignored its a poor thing not so much a race thing. A rich black woman or middle class black woman is also usually covered. Its a class thing not a race thing. A poor White woman often has the same voice as a poor black woman which is none at all. Its like when we die no one cares.
