EDITS:  Just announced on TV- His Senate office is confirming the 77 yr old passed away at his vacation home in Cape Cod, MA

Family Statement: "We've lost the irreplaceable center of our family and joyous light in our lives, but the inspiration of his faith, optimism and perseverance will live on in our hearts forever," a family statement said.

He at least managed to outlive his prognosis, I wouldn't want to wish brain cancer on anyone, but I have a lot of trouble believing his last wish was for the governor to appoint his replacement in lieu of a special election.  He couldn't have.

This screws up the "filibuster majority" in the Senate, anyways. I'm not going to judge the man nor speak ill of him, and I'm sorry for his family and friend's loss.

Terrible news rest in peace Teddy.  I am not a big fan of his but I am sorry. I have to say at least he isn't suffering anymore.  Brain cancer is terrible. My heart goes out to his family.

Sad news, but not unexpected.  Not a fan of him either.

Condolences to his family and friends.  He is not suffering now.
