It's the highest stakes ever for a Nevada election, and former boxer Sen. Harry Reid is on the ropes early. Either Republican Danny Tarkanian or Sue Lowden would knock out Reid in a general election, according to a recent poll of Nevada voters.
The results suggest the Democratic Senate majority leader will have to punch hard and often in order to retain his position as the most accomplished politician in state history, in terms of job status.
Nevadans favored Tarkanian over Reid 49 percent to 38 percent and Lowden over Reid 45 percent to 40 percent, according to the poll.
Reid's status makes him an icon of the Democratic Party and ties him to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and President Barack Obama, both of whom are losing ground among centrist and right-leaning voters in the country.
Winning "becomes more difficult when you are actually the one having to carry the water for the president," said Richard Davis, a professor of political science at Brigham Young University in Utah. "He (Reid) has got to get something out of the Obama administration that he can claim as his own."
If Reid loses re-election it will send a powerful message - several of them, actually. His loss would reflect on Obama - and his loss of popularity. It would also be a reminder to the so-called "progressives" that most of this country, including Democrats, do not want socialism. Best of all, it would be a message to the Dem leaders who stole the nom from Hill - -In America, the people expect to be able to exercise their fundamental right to elect their leaders. Hillary won that damn primary, and Harry, Nancy, and Rahm know it. When a few of their ranks start to bite the dust, I hope they'll remember their behavior throughout the primary - but especially at the Dem convention. We can never forget how democracy was assaulted. Harry's defeat would be a good reminder.

*Ouch* . . . I think anybody could beat him next year according to that poll. They won't be able to ACORN that one. Reid's only chance is to personally kill cap-and-trade, and he's not about to do that. On Obamacare, Lieberman has jumped ship now, Obama is dragging them down almost as fast as himself, but they have only a little over a year to change course, and they won't.

I agree. The vast majority of this country do not want any type of socialism. And, they will cast their vote in accordance.
Karma will come back in bite the "Dems-in-Charge" for what they are attempting to do to our country. Hopefully, they will all lose in the upcoming elections.
It's a long way off to election day for Reid, but he should be very concerned. Also NH and VA are the ones we should be watching as well. Dems should be worried.
The more I'm seeing of these town halls the more confident I'm getting. But like I said, it's a long way off to election.
This Massa is another one who shouldn't order any more personal congress stationery.
