As the Senate August recess approaches, I want my constituents, the people of Pennsylvania, to know that I will be traveling extensively through the state and holding town halls meetings. It has been my practice for my 29 years in the Senate to cover virtually every county, every year and I am looking forward to seeing many of you in the month of August as I do it again this year.
Click below to watch a message on why I hold these town meetings
My custom at the town meetings is to begin with a very short speech – five to seven minutes - and then to throw the floor open for questions.
These town meetings are very important to me because it gives me an opportunity to, first, report to the people of Pennsylvania what is going on in the Senate and what I have been doing and, most importantly, to hear questions and to respond to the interests of the people.
I do hope you’ll come out to the town meetings when I come to your area because, with citizen participation, that’s the best way to make democracy work and work for you.
The first week's town halls are listed below. Click here to see a map and please check back here periodically as more town halls are announced.
Sincerely,
Arlen Specter
