Former President Bill Clinton told a group of public health officials in Washington Monday that as a "member of the peanut gallery" viewing the posturing over health care reform, he sees "eerily familiar" political arguments getting in the way of progress on one of the most serious issues facing the nation. http://adugan-billclintonblog.blogspot.com/
I was at the Capitol when Hillary and Bill's plan was going on debate in congress. Unfortunately, they had a similar plan, but didn't have a complete plan. One who spoke vigorously against it was Ted Kennedy.
Here again, it was an incomplete plan, a good idea, but one that could not be sustainable. But Hillary managed to get through child care, which I think was a huge success at the time. As I understand, as good as the idea is, it is hard to maintain--and finances for it are at a loss.
After all this time, I would have hoped the Clinton's would realize, especially in this devastating economy, and poor Medicare and Medicade, that again the people wouldn't be for "the government" health plans. As in the past, 1993, democrats shot it down as they are doing now. States cannot handle the costs, people cannot handle the costs.
When Bill went into the hospital for a heart condition, fortunately he received expert care. All Americans should and do have access to the same care, regardless of coverage or not. And, as I've investigated health issues, they do receive that care.
