Sarah's Farewell Speech

She just gave it 19 minutes long.  I don't suppose it's out there yet in transcript.  It was wonderful.  I can't wait until we're able to read it here.  She just gave us the signal, she's going on, but didn't mention the presidency as yet.

I really like the lady.

I saw snippets of it tonight on Hannity... that Frank Lutz pollster dude was on Hannity and said her words mirror a stump speech for 2012. I am happy for her and her family.

I am going to go off topic a bit and state that one of my favorite pics of the GenElection season was Trigg in the little elephant costume. I'm sure he's outgrown it by now but perhaps, FmrGovPalin's grandchild could don it for me.. just once... for me.

Whatever she chooses to do will bring unrelenting media sexism. We need to be ready for both of these women.

1000 roses sent to Gov Palin from Team Sarah

I want to assure everyone again that Gov. Palin was given a special bouquet (photo below) and was aware that 1,000 roses were donated by Team Sarah and it's members. A card was delivered to Gov. Palin with the flowers, and an envelope with a list of the names of all who donated was also given to her mother who was going to forward it to her. Her staff made sure that Sarah's special bouquet was retrieved and they took it with them. Again, the family was very pleased that the flowers were donated, as is her tradition.

Here is the original article:

Several Team Sarah members met in Fairbanks, Alaska today in order to insure that Team Sarah’s roses were delivered to Sarah Palin. Gale Skaugstad of Fairbanks met with Sally and Chuck Heath (Sarah’s parents), and Chuck Heath Jr. As the governor was serving food to her fellow Alaskans (as is tradition), Gale handed an envelope to Sally which contained a note about the flowers as well as all of the names of the donators, which Sally said she would give to Sarah. As Gale and I spoke to Sally and Chuck and told them about the flowers, Chuck asked what was happening to the flowers after the ceremony. We let them know that we were donating them to Basset Army Community Hospital on Ft. Wainwright (which is where Sarah’s son’s striker brigade is home-based), as well as the Pioneer Home, a home for seniors in the area. Sally and Chuck were very pleased that the flowers would go to these facilities, which has always been Sarah’s tradition in the past.

The floral shop Arctic Florist and it’s owner, Hoa Brickley, did an absolutely fantastic job of preparing the roses. Hoa made several vases with flowers, including a special vase for Sarah Palin. There were also many, many presentation bundles that were available. Sarah Palin’s bouquet consisted of red and black velvet roses with greenery and baby’s breath in a white vase with blue and gold (Alaska’s colors) ribbon.

Gale, Jill Frost and I were allowed into Sarah’s dressing room to place her personal bouquet of roses on her dressing table, along with a card from Team Sarah. We helped to make sure the room looked good and then left, hoping that Sarah would see the flowers when she was changing between the picnic and inauguration ceremonies. The rest of roses in presentation bundles were lined along the fenced walkway that Sarah and the other dignitaries walked along to go to the podium. It was really quite a display, and I heard many people comment on how beautiful all of the flowers were.

After the ceremony, we began to gather the roses in order to donate them. We ran into one of Sarah’s staffers who had been asked to retrieve the roses from Sarah’s dressing room, along with the card, before the rest of the roses were taken away. We were assured by Sarah’s staffer that Sarah did indeed appreciate the flowers, and did read the card. She was making sure that Sarah’s special bouquet was taken with her.

UPDATE:
When I first posted this, I had not had the opportunity to share some photos with you. I have added additional photos from Bassett Army Community Hospital, which you will see below. I just received permission from the hospital commander to publish these photos on the web, so I would like to share them with you now. They are photos of two new mothers with their babies, as well as a photo of the husband and children of a woman who was sick and could not be photographed. Again, all families were so happy to receive the flowers.

What amuses me is that many in the MSM are trying to say that Sarah Palin is not relevant, blah blah blah, yet, the MSM cannot stop talking about her.  If someone is not relevant, then why bother giving him or her air time.

I thought her stepping-out speech was pretty good, and socked it to the MSM for "making' stuff up" and going after her kids, socked it to Obama on his world "apology tour" and Hollywood for mixing entertainment with politics.

On Holloywood, yesterday I caught a piece of Neil Cavuto's show on FOX while flipping through the channels, and he made a comment that deserves some reflection.  Apparently, there is a new kids movie out, G-Force or some such, that is part animation involving hamsters.  The issue taken by the Fox host was that the "bad guy" in this kids show was a CEO and it was felt that this was Hollywood's attempt to impress upon kids that being a CEO was a bad thing because Obama had said so.  Maybe it’s a leap for such a conclusion, but it would not be the first time Hollywood developed propaganda.

I found Cavuto's comments and here they are: (everything that follows is a direct quote, not sure how to do a quote box at present)

It's Popular to Rip CEOs

Monday, July 27, 2009
By Neil Cavuto

I know CEOs are held in low regard, especially these days. It's popular to rip them.

President Obama indeed has made an art form of vilifying them. Hollywood long has had little good to say about them. Tragic in "Citizen Kane." Evil in "Soylent Green." Dastardly in "JFK". Which leads us to downright silly in "G-Force."

That's right. America's most popular movie is America's latest example of portraying America's CEOs in the most un-American way.

Now don't get me wrong. This silly movie about a specially trained squad of guinea pigs trying to stop an evil billionaire from taking over the world is cute, and funny.

I got a kick out of it. My two little boys got a big kick out of it.

The guinea pigs were the stars. The selfish CEO pig was the villain. Easy stars. Easier villain.

Here's why: Nothing works in Hollywood like making the bad guy a mogul. Or teaching our kids that making it big must mean you stole it big or are trying to take advantage of other people because you have it.

Not with cute movies for kids. But cute movies that try to hammer kids. And not so indirectly hammer home a bias on kids that, I don't know, companies are bad. That profits are worse.

And CEOs pushing profits are the worst.

They can't just be just eccentric, right? No, they all have to be evil. And they must all be destroyed.

Because remember in "Happy Feet"? Loved the movie. Long movie, if you had a soda going into it. They were destroying our world. And in "G-Force," destroying our lives.

Just once, I'd like to see a different villain. A different prop. A different foil.

I know these are fun movies; actually they are very good, cute movies. It just amazes me that flicks that go to great lengths to do animation and special effects that are pretty hard, end up taking cheap shots that are pretty easy.

Look, Bill Nighy makes a great bad guy. But, you know, he's a pretty good actor. Next time, can we make him at least less of a bad guy? With I don't know, hamsters?

I know, I know, you're kidding. But can you let our kids in on the joke? Because they're beginning to think that everyone in corporate America's sinister and out for just nothing but evil — to make them want to watch CNN or like CNBC. We can give our kids better.

Not a thing in the MSM about this lovely gesture to Sarah?  Sigh.  Thanks for the photos guys, it warmed my heart to see so much love :)

I love Team Sarah, but I'm not a fan of the Ning format....too crazy, busy.  My local tea party is on Ning too......I should be visiting both these sites more often!

Thanks again!
