I taped the show and so glad I did. She was wonderful. Very much engaged in her job as Sec. of State.  Her message to world is "America's Engagement in diplomacy" Hillary loves her job, that was my take this morning and she feels that the State Dept. is making a big difference in the world.  All these media rumors of Obama and Hillary at odds are false. I believe we need to move on.  There is to many hots spots in the world that need her so much.  I am very proud of her as I know all of us are. What a Gem she is in this administration.

I am hoping that they air this in Pittsburgh at 11 because they did not show Meet the Press on my local station. I hate that.

OMG who is Hillary talking about on Meet the Press?

I got this over at The New Agenda

SEC’Y CLINTON: Well, look, I’m not going to pretend that running for president as a woman is not daunting. It is daunting. And it is, you know, probably a path that doesn’t appeal to a lot of women even in elective office, because it is so difficult. But I am convinced–and I don’t know if she’s in elective office right now or if she’s preparing to run for office–but there is a woman who I am hoping will be able to achieve that…

I don't think Hillary was speaking of anyone specifically because if she had a particular woman in mind she would know if that person was holding an elective office right now or preparing to run for office. Unless it's Sarah Palin, whose status is in-between at the moment. But I watched the whole interview and I'm pretty sure it's not her. Hillary didn't seem too enthused about Palin at all.

I'm sad to say that after watching Hillary's interview, I don't think she's planning to run in 2012 or 2016. The way she spoke, it sounded like she's done with it all. However, I'm still not convinced that she and Obama are getting along all that well. I noticed when she compliments him, she's very vague-- she'll say something nice about his dedication or commitment or whatever, but not about how he has accomplished anything specific. And Hillary is usually VERY specific about, well, everything.

It was weird how she had to respond to all those Biden quotes.

Yahoo she is going to run and win because this time we know what we are up against.

Clinton Hopes for Female President in Her Lifetime (Reuters 7/26/09)

Hillary Clinton said on Sunday she hoped there would a female U.S. president in her lifetime but ruled out the chance she would run again.

Now secretary of state in the Cabinet of her onetime rival President Barack Obama, Clinton said it was a "daunting" challenge for a woman to run for president.

"It will take the right woman who can make the case and win the votes and get elected. I am certainly hoping it will happen in my lifetime," she told NBC's "Meet the Press" program.

When pressed whether she would run again, she said, "I have absolutely no belief, in my mind, that that will happen."

Clinton declined comment on the presidential prospects for outgoing Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, who was Republican contender Senator John McCain's running mate in last year's race.

Pressed on whether she thought Palin had the right attributes to be president, Clinton replied: "That is up to the voters to determine." She added that putting together an election campaign was a complicated venture.

"I am just going to leave it at that," she said. "I do want to see a woman elected.

Meet the Press routinely posts videos and transcripts of their shows.

Here is the transcript of the July 26 show (today, with Secretary of State Clinton)
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/32142102/ns/meet_the_press/

Here is the video (in several chunks)
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/32155155#32155155

It's highly unusual for MTP to have a single guest for the entire hour - it's definitely an indication of her stature that they would do so for her.

I really didn't get an "I'm running for President" vibe from Hillary on MTP, but it's encouraging that other people think so. Maybe I just don't understand Hillary code as well as they do. wink.gif

She is pretending because if she gives any hint to the media they will start killing her again.  She is going to run for President we have to be dilegent with the media but she will run.  She's done it before.  What that means is Hillary is unsure of the future. She gets painted a liar for any thing that comes out of her mouth.
Besides she has us working our hearts out for her and she knows that.
She is the most amazing woman in the world and I will spend as long as it takes and work as hard as I can for her because she is special she makes me loyal to her. She hears us and she won't let us down she's never let me down before.

She is going to run again and the next time we will be prepared. We have the power to take on the media and win. Its time to pull it together.
I am happy and pleased with her comments on Sarah Palin and I don't think Hillary hates Sarah at all. I think she and Sarah are alone on this island and no one really understands what its like to be alone and battered every day. Hillary and Sarah are in the same boat and they know it.
This just makes me admire her more.

True, Hillary wouldn't be able to reveal any presidential ambitions at this time, especially not on NBC. I don't know... I guess I was hoping for a wink-wink-nudge-nudge, an oddly worded phrase, or some other signal to her peeps that she really is planning to get back in the game. If it was there, I didn't pick up on it.

No because if he is a terrible President in 2012 she will not run but allow someone else to take the hit. She is thinking 2016.

I agree--as usual, she handled the questions with class, and refrained from attacking Sarah like everyone else does.  I think you're right - Hillary recognizes that she and Sarah are the only ones that experienced such hateful treatment.

Exactly. She does not need to say anything.

She's committed to do her normal best as SOS.  Of course she has to continue praising the totus while she's in that post, no matter how vague.  She'll let us know when the time is right.

I agree, but something is telling in the interview today on Meet the Press

She says that she is very engaged to what she is doing now as SOS. Maybe to early yet to talk about running.  But I think She won't run again.  JMO I hope I am wrong tho.

She's going to run. She is just talking this way. She's very smart and besides I want her out there saying just that. But I also am prepared to fight very hard for her.

Clinton Reassures Moscow on 'Reset' (WSJ 7-26-09) -- coverage of Meet The Press interview -- By PETER SPIEGEL and ALAN CULLISON
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB124862640632881795.html

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said the Obama administration considered Russia a "great power" and wanted it to be a strong and prosperous country, in an apparent effort to reassure Moscow that the White House remains committed to efforts to "reset" bilateral relations.

Mrs. Clinton made the remarks in response to a question about Vice President Joe Biden's suggestion, during a Wall Street Journal interview published on Saturday, that Russia's weakening economy was likely to make it more amenable to cooperate with the West on national security issues.

[Hillary Clinton]Associated Press/Meet the Press

Hillary Clinton said, "We view Russia as a great power."

"We view Russia as a great power," Mrs. Clinton said on NBC News's "Meet the Press" on Sunday. "Every country faces challenges. We have our challenges, Russia has their challenges. There are certain issues that Russia has to deal with on its own."

She said the Obama administration didn't believe it has an upper hand in its ties with Moscow, and noted that Mr. Biden had been the first senior administration member to publicly call for a "reset" in the two countries' relationship, in an address in Munich, Germany, in February.

Mr. Biden's comments to the Journal raised concerns in Moscow, which questioned whether he was speaking for the U.S. government. "The question is: Who is shaping the U.S. foreign policy -- the president or the respectable members of his team?" asked Russian presidential aide Sergei Prikhodko. He said it was "perplexing" that Mr. Biden delivered the comments just as the U.S. was talking about a reset in relations.

If you watched her respond to that question in Thailand - that she does not anticipate running again - I think, in my humble opinion, that our girl was not telling the truth - she almost stuttered a bit before her answer - so uncharacteristic of Hillary - that tells me she has been thinking about another run.

I, for one, am preparing my life to be able to commit to doing everything I can to get her elected.  I hope to act as a state leader for her campaign.  If I have to wait until 2016, then so be it.

It was great to see her on Meet the Press! Unlike Obama she's focusing on her job, and not in campaign mode.

She knows us, her supporters, and we are in her heart everyday! When she runs we'll be all the more ready.

I was struck by Hillary, particulary when what she wrote in the 6th grade:

When I grow up I want to have had the best education I could possible obtained ...I want to be teacher or a nuclear phypics scientist, she wrote.

What do you think about Gregory's question? You have run for senator of NY, the presidency, is this all about SETTING yourself up to be nuclear physic scientist?

It made me flash back to the educational system for girls and women back then.
And the dynamics involved that they were low achievers, and did not have the tools
for success. Her reply also interested me, "I learned early on that was not in the cards for me, and I HAD to settle for being in public office, for one, as a young girl she wanted to learn more about science. Like other girls/women she probably was not happy as to how the scientific study/research was presented to us at that time. And now here she in involved in world science, trying to help others to solve their "world" problems.

She wanted to become a teacher, and by God, we've had many a teaching/learning moment from her.. To put it in perspective...........she is noted for her teaching, and her scientific inquiry which indeed led her to become a successful public servant.

What's your experiences, opinions or feelings?
