Senator Russ Feingold - a likely 2012 candidate

Like a lot of people, but not all, I feel sad by Feingold loosing the election. He has some great sensible policy stand that I really like.  His concession speech was interesting and possibly indicates that he is running for 2012 general.

Crushed by Feingold’s Defeat (Progressive.org) [see video here: Russ Feingold Concession speech - very classy]

Russ Feingold Falls: A Look Back

What's Next for Feingold?

Feingold on the left

Excerpt:
UPDATE: And check out the conclusion of Feingold's concessions speech, visible here: "It's on to our next adventure. It's on to 2012!," he yells. "Forward!"

Sure looks and sounds like he is saying he is going to run for 2012.

So, a closer look at his record is probably in order. I'll post more material if I find.

Senator Russ Feingold
(Wikipedia)

I see Sen. Feingold as standing for the following:
  • Economic fairness
  • Campaign finance reform
  • Favors Gay Marriage
  • Against Patriot Act   - his article - http://www.archipelago.org/vol6-2/feingold.htm
  • Against Iraq war from the get go
  • Against lengthening war in Afghanistan http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=706KwmrnZ5o [focus on Pakistan instead].
  • 93% on NARAL; 25% NRTL (when I last checked a couple months ago)
  • pro-choice with parental notification
  • Pro-gun; with gun control with strong background check
  • Worked across party lines with McCain and others
  • In Wisconsin, in 2006 author of "State-Based Health Care Reform Act" to a bill to create a pilot program for a system of universal health care under which each U.S. state would create a program to provide its citizenry with universal health care.

Oh, I hope he doesn't run. That will make it impossible for Hillary.

reddirtgirl, Possible. Then again, all rules are standing on their head lately.

The biggest obstacle for Hillary running is there is a sitting POTUS of the same party who is running -- but as of yesterday that is looking very shaky.  In fact, there was a part of the POTUS speech that said "for the rest of my the time I am in office" and his body language was not too confident in that segment.

A real challenge from a qualified may further urge the POTUS to not run and open the door further to Hillary. She would run the primary hands down.

For the general, a combo of Clinton-Feingold may be really good.

Obama has got to step down, he's got to do it.

I don't believe Obama is going to run again.  He always looks like he hates the job. I will never support another Democrat man again for POTUS.  I think Hillary is going to run and the last damn thing the Democrats need is another stone cold Liberal.
I still think Hillary is going to run again.
