"I always love listening to Bill Clinton. If you listen carefully, you can see all the gears in motion: he makes himself clear to people who bother to take him seriously. So what is he saying? That this president has “done a better job than he has gotten credit for so far.” (Which is not the same thing as saying that Obama has done a good job.) And: “All elections are about the future, so what is the alternative?” (Pay no attention to Obama, look at those scary Republicans!) And: “Give us two more years—two more years until another election. If we fail, you can throw us all out.” (Hillary will then be free to pick up the pieces!)"

Very interesting. The Big Dawg is indeed a word smith. As you said, Amy, if you pay attention, you see there are various messages and layers of meaning. I love that Bill.

At first glance, he appears to be spreading the Dem gospel, but beneath the surface, the message is more thought provoking. Doesn't sound to me as if he's exactly singing O's praises. I mean - to say that he's "done a better job than he's been given credit for" still doesn't say a lot for The One.

Go Bill.

I still want to know what he was going to tell us in Jan. 2009 - remember? Maybe someday we'll find out.

Yes, I remember that Bill was going to tell us something. I wonder when we'll get to hear it?

BTW, I love the way Bill uses the passive voice in his "done a better job than he's been given credit for" statement.
