Is Rahm Emanuel's rumored departure a sign Hillary Clinton will run in 2012? (DBKP 6/21/10)

During the 2008 primary, the Mainstream Media–a solid Clinton ally during 1992-2000–turned on Hillary. Stories that the MSM largely took a pass on during the Clinton White House years (missing FBI files, Hillary’s funny financials, etc.), were reported in 2008 as if they’d only happened the day before.

Hillary’s press coverage during the 2008 Democrat primary resembled the treatment usually reserved for Republicans.

If the MSM turns on Barack Obama, he’s (even more) screwed. Like Clinton in the 1990s, Obama benefited from the MSM’s selective news coverage. There are more than enough skeletons rattling around the Obama closet to keep a pro-Clinton press busy during 2011 and 2012.

Just one example: maybe the L.A. Times suddenly discovers that they can release the 2003 videotape of Obama attending a gala dinner for Rashid Khalidi–and what Obama said at the event. The Times treated the video like a state secret during the 2008 campaign, acknowledging that it had the tape, but keeping its contents away from inquiring readers–and voters.

Obama got a little taste with the almost-universal panning of his Oval Office speech last week. That would have been unthinkable for the MSM to do in 2008 when the MSM’s mantra was “Obama is an orator like no other we’ve seen.” What a difference 18 months make.

The media is not even 30% on Bush-Bashing meter–yet. But when it comes, it will be brutal. Based on Obama’s reaction to mildly-critical press, a full-scale MSM beat-down might reveal some very unpleasant personality quirks.

The article goes on to explore some of the more recent rumors/memes:

Hillary should be Obama’s vice-president in 2012.
Was this story inspired by the talents of Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton going to waste? Or was this an attempt to neutralize a prime (only?) Obama rival within the Democratic Party for 2012?

Rahm Emanuel expected to quit White House.
The first high-profile Clintonite coming home to roost?

Or just a savvy Emanuel recognizing when the ship he’s on has sprung too many damn holes to plug?

After ramming through an unpopular ObamaCare and sky-rocketing spending bills, Democrats are now realizing that Obama sacrificed many of them on the altar of his legacy. The president won’t find a lot of legislative victories in the next two years.

Democrat candidates are not only running away from campaigning with Obama, one is calling for his impeachment.

The Jimmy Carter comparisons: you ain’t seen nothing yet.
Obama comparisons with another failed Dem president, Jimmy Carter, have been seen on the right for awhile now. But the rate of Carter comparisons have intensified and extended across the spectrum.

Clinton leaking that the Obama administration is suing Arizona over its new illegal immigration law.
Maybe this was just another Clinton State Department gaffe/error. But maybe not. It can’t help the Obama administration for its controversial suit to be announced to Ecuadorians before Arizona.

This could be a convenient way for Clinton to exit the State Department–just in time to set the Iowa 2011 wheels in motion.

Bill Clinton, who was proclaimed America’s first black president years before Obama was elected, has not forgotten how he was treated by the Obama campaign and flogged by the MSM over the race issue. There is no love lost between Barack Obama and Bill Clinton–despite appearances.

2012 will be the Clintons’ long-smoldering answer to 2008 “injustices.”

Again, hope springs eternal. lol I think the media, having made fools of themselves in 2008, as they bowed like tingling (well, at least spitty, tingled), adoring groupies at the feet of Obama, will become increasingly tough on him. At least the smarter (or should I say less stupid) ones will - the ones who actually realize that they made idiots of themselves over Obama, and need to do something to make-up for that mistake.

They're all jumping on the Hillary 2012 bandwagon now. Some say she'll run, some say she won't. But there are sooooo many of these articles now that I can't post every one of them.

Hillary will not run if Obama decides to run for re election. Only if he pulls a Lyndon Johnson and decides not to run will she throw her hat into the ring. She is a loyal Democrat. Its why she tried to neutralize all the revolts within the party so graciously. Hoping is one thing, but the reality is she is loyal to her party and its ideas and will do nothing to jeopardize the party's chances.
