Wilma worked very hard as the first female Chief of the Cherokee Nation. We can only hope that other women will follow in her footsteps. She spent the most part of her life living in the slums and on the reservations, she never gave up the fight.
In my sorrow, I know she sleeps well at last, R.I.P.
Wilma Pearl Mankiller (November 18, 1945 – April 6, 2010) was the first female Chief of the Cherokee Nation. She served as the Principal Chief for ten years from 1985 to 1995.
She was an inspiration to me, as well, and I think to many of us. Sympathy to her family and friends. I was very impressed with har insight and her accomplishments, and especially appreciated the support she gave to Hillary during the campaign.
