I have been reflecting on what President Obama did wrong in the Health Care Reform process... of course other than not giving it early leadership..... and I may have the answer.. The Public Option was a good thing to have strived for.. EXCEPT, even as the House started on the AHCAA or whatever the acronym... House version of the Bill, Pres.Obama started saying Public Option is to counter-act the Insurance companies and give them real competition.
Well, that is not what Public Option is needed for. It is meant for those who might otherwise fall off the bottom... or in between jobs.. etc.
So, that was the first mistake. And with that, it became a very unAmerican thing to do.. for the government to compete with the private sector.. Even though we do not like this particular private sector very much, we like government intervention into private sector even less.
The real issue though is where he DID NOT HAVE a solution... which is real cost containment. He was trying to make up for that by saying the public option would bring down the insurance price. Too bad. He really needed to bring at least one solid element of cost containment.. and he has failed miserably in doing that.

I don't see this as anything but a lose-lose situation for Zero. If the bill passes-- especially now that he's staying home and therefore making sure his fingerprints are all over this thing-- then he's toast because nobody likes this bill. But at the same time, if the bill fails it makes 0 look like a poor leader who can't get anything done. Either way, it's not good for Ofraudo.
