Ok, we can all relax now. The same people who helped get Obama installed as POTUS are taking on the task of improving public education. Apparently, the groups, which includes Code Pink members as well as members of various socialist and communist parties, not satisfied to have screwed up government, now will work to do the same to public education. Free speech is worth defending with one's life, but damn! I wish people would use it more wisely.
Hard Left: March 4 Day of Action and Strike in Defense of Public Education
One thing you can count on from the Hard Left is they know how to mobilize and strike, protest, sit in, and disrupt. The RBO inbox came fully loaded this morning with links to today’s Day of Action and Strike in Defense of Public Education in California and Boston, accompanied by links to Facebook and Google.
•March 4th is right around the corner and the local, national and international anticipation for this historic day is growing by the minute. Students, teachers, staff, parents and workers from all over California, the nation and the world have been organizing and building for the Strike and Day of Action.
Listed as an endorser is the International Socialist Organization, which David Horowitz’s Discover the Networks describes as an “Anti-American, anti-capitalist Communist organization” found on “many American campuses”:
•Evoking the Communist tradition of Karl Marx, Leon Trotsky and Vladimir Lenin, the Chicago-based International Socialist Organization (ISO) aspires to “organize activists in workplaces and communities and on campuses in order to mobilize opposition to all forms of oppression and exploitation.” The chief source of this oppression and exploitation, in ISO’s view, is capitalism — whose inevitable by-products are poverty, environmental degradation, war, famine, and most other ills that plague humanity. ISO places the blame for international strife largely on the United States, and more specifically the Republican Party…
Until her nomination in January 2009 as Obama’s “global warming czar”, Carol M. Browner was “listed as one of 14 leaders of [ISO's] Commission for a Sustainable World Society, which calls for ‘global governance’ and says rich countries must shrink their economies to address climate change.”
Also listed among the endorsements is Movement for a Democratic Society (MDS), the geriatric Students for a Democratic Society group that supports the new and improved SDS. (If you are unfamiliar with MDS, RBO’s September 2008 post will fill you in.)
A second California-based notice, posted at the Edu-Factory, lists more endorsers, which include SDS, the Socialist Party of Connecticut, and the Ohio chapter of Progressive Democrats of America.
PDA’s leftist luminaries include: Congressional Democratic Caucus members, California Reps. Barbara Lee and Lynn Woolsey, Michigan Rep. John Conyers, and Florida Rep. Robert Wexler, “plus such other well-known activists” as The Nation’s editor and co-owner Katrina vanden Heuvel, Tom Hayden, Jim Zogby, anti-war activist and CODEPINK co-founder Medea Benjamin, and Jim Hightower.
The Boston link is sponsored by Communist affiliated United for Peace and Justice, the same radical group Barack Obama associated himself with while in the Illinois State Senate. Unsurprisingly, Van Jones worked with UPJ in California.
Discover the Networks informs UPJ is an anti-war “coalition of more than 1,300 local and national groups” is co-chaired by “pro-Castro socialist Leslie Cagan.” UPJ now includes such groups as CODE PINK and PDA.
Another sponsor is Solidarity, which DTN describes as a civil liberties “advocacy organization formed following the 9/11 attacks.” Solidarity both seeks to “protect the rights of incarcerated al Qaeda terrorists in Guantanamo Bay” and to defend “Muslim organizations under Federal investigation for funding terrorism.”
•[SSUSA] .. strives to establish a radical democracy that places people’s lives under their own control – a non-racist, classless, feminist socialist society… where working people own and control the means of production and distribution through democratically-controlled public agencies; where full employment is realized for everyone who wants to work; where workers have the right to form unions freely, and to strike and engage in other forms of job actions; and where the production of society is used for the benefit of all humanity, not for the private profit of a few. We believe socialism and democracy are one and indivisible. The working class is in a key and central position to fight back against the ruling capitalist class and its power. The working class is the major force worldwide that can lead the way to a socialist future – to a real radical democracy from below.
The SSUSA list includes a blast from the past, the Recreate ‘68 Alliance.

John Batchelor wrote about Recreate 68 in April 2008:
The chosen battlefield is Denver; the threat is a wireless, YouTubed, blogged version of the chaos at the infamous Chicago convention of 1968. The code name for all this planning is R68, or Re-create 68. Code Pink has disrupted many Clinton events along the trail. ‘Huffington Post’, which hourly publishes spectacular anti-Clinton jeremiads, is run in part by Kenneth Lerer, a successful Obama bundler. There are anecdotes from the blunt pro-Clinton bloggers at Stop-Obama.org that an anti-Clinton strike force is under development for the Denver convention, led by the nimble, numberless, stylish Code Pink. The benefactor of Code Pink is the superrich and vivacious Jodie Evans, who is also a successful Obama bundler as well as a pal of Mrs. Huffington. Code Pink (codepink4peace.org) has been less than coy about its contacts with
It was we, the people; not we, the white male citizens; nor yet we, the male citizens; but we, the whole people, who formed the Union.... Men, their rights and nothing more; women, their rights and nothing less. ~Susan B. Anthony
I spit on a Code Pink woman last week lol. I usually don't do anything so nasty I just remember what they did to Hillary and after insulting her and calling her a terrorist. I spit right in her face. I told her to remember that the next time she protested. I know its not nice but Code Pink deserves to be spit on then thrown out of this country on their disquesting behinds. Maybe if they were forced to live in a country where they had no freedom they would appreciate the USA more. I hate Code Pink. Code Idiot is more like it. I say we call for the government to round them up and make them disappear forever like the commie countries these traitors love so much. Take that scum bag Jane Fonda with them
I was actually invited to a defense-of-education rally here in Detroit. I don't think I saved the email, but I'll go check. I don't remember seeing the name Code Pink, but then again I just skimmed it, knowing I had other commitments that day and couldn't have gone to the rally even if I had wanted to.
