WASHINGTON (AP) — The Senate's Republican leader says GOP senators may support a slimmed down jobs bill in a key test vote on Monday.
Sen. Mitch McConnell of Kentucky says Republicans "may well" vote for the bill. It'll take at least one Republican to advance the legislation to a final vote this coming week.
For businesses that hire unemployed workers, the measure would provide a one-year break from payroll taxes and a $1,000 tax credit if those workers stay on the job for a full year.
