Obama Sings at Civil Rights Concert

The president is surrounded by notable singers at a Black History Month tribute.

==========================

Glad to see this video. All of it.  It's interesting how across the world I learned to sing We shall overcome some day. That's one song we all knew well!

Tonight I watched "How We Laugh"  A history of African American comedy throughout history.  They got to the 90s and were talking about the highest ceiling for African Americans was Joint Chief of Staff.  I thought damn since then we have broken SOS and POTUS.  I may not like Obama but he has definately earned his place in history.  We have indeed come far from the days when we were 3/5ths of a human being.
Now its time for African Americans to stop worrying about civil rights and start worrying about saving our  communities from drugs and violence  Its time that we not stop looking at the past but avoid being stuck in the past.  We have to many problems that the civil rights organizations don't even want to look at.
The White man is no longer our enemy our enemy is a little white devil in a glass bottle that is sold more then bread in some African American neighborhoods.
MO is working on obesity in children I may not like the way she went about it but its time we tackle that problem its killing us.
The ghetto is a hot mess.

LMAO I misread the statement.  I saw this  video on my facebook page submitted by one of my Obama loving friends.  LOL This took bravery on his part.
White people will sing and dance in public rather they can or not. African Americans are not that brave lol.  Obama cannot sing.  The comments from the supporters were funny.  Several of them warned the President not to quit his day job.
One person said he would have gotten kicked off the stage at the Apollo Theatre.
He earns points for being brave enough to sing in public lol

We have a whole lot of problems as far as diets in the African American community and it goes a little bit farther than just parents not really caring what the kids eat.   You ever heard of  Grocery grave yards.  I know in my neighborhood there isn't a real grocery store for miles.  People who rely on public transportation aren't often likely to take the bus and travel with bags back on the bus.  Who want's to do that when you can grab something from the dollar menu from burger king, mcdonald's, wendy's or taco bell, or a bag a chips and a soda all within walking distance from your house.  Also I hope instead of taxing the soda and all the other sugary stuff can't you just work make the good stuff cheaper,  It's sad that frozen dinners, frozen, vegetables ramen noodles and soda and chips etc are cheaper than fresh veggies, fresh fruits etc.

They put liquer stores or bars on damn near every corner in my neighborhood and although we don't have fast food places we have no grocery stores and although we have two butcher shops one of those sell poor quality meat and we have lots of take out places.
African Americans need to learn a healthier way to cook our foods.  We should be able to come up with a way to make soul food healthy.  We have done it before switching from lard to vegetable oil.  Is there a healthier way to fry chicken or pork chops.
Soul food is an important part of our culture one that we may need to modify or continue to die much younger then whites.
We need grocery stores in our communities.  I have to take public transportation but I can call a jitney.  Cabs don't come to our neighborhoods and even if they did I prefer the jitneys.  A grocery store where I can buy food to prepare instead of relying on delivered food or the junk they sell at convience stores which are overpriced.
