Walgreens Offering H1N1 Vaccinations Daily at All of Its Pharmacies and Take Care Clinics Nationwide
January 4, 2010 8:00 AM ET
Every Walgreens pharmacy, every day. The once-scarce H1N1 vaccine is now available daily at all of the more than 7,100 Walgreens pharmacies and 350 Take Care Clinics throughout the country. With nearly all states lifting priority group vaccination restrictions, Walgreens (NYSE, NASDAQ: WAG) is able to offer H1N1 vaccine to anyone in those states who wants a vaccination and who meets state age requirements. Priority group vaccination restrictions are still in effect in Hawaii only.
H1N1 vaccinations are available at Walgreens pharmacies on a walk-in basis when an immunizing pharmacist is on staff and also may be available by appointment. In addition, Take Care Clinics at select Walgreens stores in 19 states have board-certified nurse practitioners and physician assistants who will provide vaccinations on a walk-in basis daily, pending vaccine availability. Age restrictions for pharmacist-administered vaccinations vary by state, while Take Care Clinics can immunize children age 2 and above.
Notice how all the big hoopla about H1N1 is basically over? Oh it was going to kill us all if we didn't get the vaccine, if we didn't push through Obamacare!!! Now you hardly hear about it at all. Amazing what people will believe if told often enough!

Some people are addicted to excitement, and will take it from any source they can. Lots thrived on the H1N1 flu news. It can be bad if you get it, but the extent of the danger was way overhyped.
I personally won't be getting a shot, but thank you, Sanders, for the heads-up for those who are interested.

H1N1 is very very bad if you get it. I can say that having heard from a friend on what they went through with H1N1, I would not want anyone to get it. We (self and hubby) got the mildest version of H1N1, still it was very bad - the body aches lasted more than a week. At the slightest hint of H1N1 for my kid, I rushed her to the doc's, inspite of having had H1N1 vaccine it turned out to be regular flu and was gone in 2 days. But the scare was definitely there (especially because I have been solo parenting and I worry about the kid constantly).
Likelihood of getting H1N1 is higher if you constantly deal with people i.e., shaking hands, taking things from/giving to others. So, for children and for people who come across many people during their daily course of workday, I think it makes great sense to get the vaccination. Also, now that the season is well under way, and no adverse effects have been reported so far, it feels a bit safer at this point. I'd rather be safe...

Too late-- I already had the H1N1. I'm still not 100 percent over it. Going to the freakin' grocery store makes me so tired that I have to take a nap afterwards.

Sorry to hear you're still feeling the effects, Jen. But I'm glad that you're at least on this side of healthy!
