I saw his announcement. His show is the only one I watch on CNN. He said the "winds of change" have certainly been blowing in this country for the past six months, and he didn't like the direction some issues were taking. Said he needed to be in a position where he could fight for the things he believes in like capitalism.
It was we, the people; not we, the white male citizens; nor yet we, the male citizens; but we, the whole people, who formed the Union.... Men, their rights and nothing more; women, their rights and nothing less. ~Susan B. Anthony
he was the only respectable reporter on that god awful channel. I cannot believe 2 years ago, I shunned Fox and only watched CNN and MSNBC, now the only channel I will watch is Fox.
I hope Fox picks him up. He will bring a lot of his fans over. Watch CNN;s numbers to plummet even more, they truely are stupid not to realise that many moderate people watched CNN only b/c Lou Dobbs was there.
I'm not shedding any tears over his departure. I think CNN is letting him go because he dared to challenge BO. Where were they when he was painting all Latinos as illegal immigrants? He was the worst thing to happen to the Latino population in the U.S. and I'll never forget that it was CNN that had him on every night.
I don't agree with all of Dobb's positions - no way. But, I do respect the fact that he is honest about his beliefs. He appeared to have no hidden agenda. He was not so enamored of BO that he would not call him out on his screw ups. He did recognize early on that the media were giving him a free ride, and slanting presidential election coverage. He even actually mentioned the birth certificate issue - not saying that he believed it, but making the point that it was such a small thing to do - why in the Hell would O not produce it. After that, some of his sponsors threatened to pull out.
In listening to tonight's broadcast, got the sense that Lou was considering a role more bold and outspoken than news reporter or pundit. It was unclear what he was planning, but I would not at all be surprised if it was not to help give more strength to an Independent party movement. He's an avowed independent, and given the growing numbers of people who say they consider themselves to be independents, maybe he thought it was time to organize and grow this movement. I wouldn't be surprised if he ran for office on that ticket.
I know the immigration issue is a difficult one, and am not claiming his coverage was fair or just - I honestly don't watch him all that much, and when he was on a tear about immigration every night, I stopped watching completely for a time.
As far as CNN goes, their ratings will be in the toilet without him, I predict. There's no credibility left. And, that Campbell Brown, who made a blithering fool of herself during the debate between BO and Hillary, should have the decency to get out of journalism for good. She's a total hypocrite. That "no bias, no bull" catch phrase is just to do damage control. Everyone with any sense knows that CNN is nothing but bias and bull sh**, when it comes to Obama.
Yep, without Lou to provide some balance, CNN's going to the dogs.
I'd like to make one more point about MSM, and I know this view is not popular here. I don't want to step on toes, but I fail to see how watching FOX news is even worth the time. Their "fair and balanced" line is as bogus as Campbell's . I mean, Greta is great. She can be objective. I have total respect for her. But Oreilly, Ingram, Hannity, Beck - have all run women and specifically Hillary down repeatedly. They cannot resist the urge to share their views on abortion, gay rights, Christianity (which they think everyone should accept, apparently - and only, their version of it). I'm sorry, but it's getting as hard for me to watch FOX as it was CNN. And, I know I've said this before, but I think it bears repeating - On the many, many occasions FOX news folks refer to Hillary in their news casts, always done in a negative light, btw, they always refer to her as "HIllary". Never do they say even Hillary Clinton, not SOS Clinton, not the SOS - just Hillary. And they are as insulting as they can possibly be.
End of rant.

I guess we have to weigh everything, and decide for ourselves. Hillary and Bill are my heroes, of course, but they're falling down on the ineligibility issue, for their own personal reasons. Lou Dobbs covered that issue, but he's obviously falling down on others. CNN is crap. FOX, while still crap also, will at least occasionally cover stuff like the tea parties. So we weigh and we take what we want and discard the rest, based on our own personal preferences.

I hear what you are all saying, I didn't like everything about Lou, but he gave Hillary coverage were the others would not.
And like you, I believe it was because of Obama's birth certificate that he was let go, and I don't doubt it was also because of his never ending story on illegals.
