The Following is all in quotes:

The Movement Against the Banks

By Ruth Conniff

A massive rally in Chicago next week aims to express public displeasure with the massive bank bailout outside the American Bank Association annual meeting. Protesters will converge at 11:30 on Monday, October 26, at 301 North Water Street, where the meeting is taking place.

"The same financial institutions that caused the economic crisis and took billions in taxpayer bailouts are back to earning incredible profits," rally organizers—including Public Citizen, the AFL-CIO, and Change to Win—declare. "Meanwhile, Americans face shrinking pensions, rising foreclosures and unemployment, state budget cuts, predatory lending, outrageous overdraft fees, and sky-high credit card interest rates."

Protesters will demand oversight and accountability and reforms that would rein in the banks. It is an important moment, since Congress takes up regulatory legislation, including the idea of a Consumer Financial Protection Agency, this month.

The Obama Administration is backing the idea of a consumer protection agency, but shying away from other reforms, including breaking up the "too-big-to-fail" banks and separating commercial banking activities from the investment activities that led to the current financial crisis. Today's New York Times includes a profile of Paul Volcker, the Federal Reserve chairman from 1979 to 1987, describing how he has been marginalized by Obama's pro-Wall Street economic advisors for suggesting a return to the 1933 Glass-Steagall Act, which, before deregulation, mandated that commercial banking and investment activities be separate.

"His disagreement with the Obama people on whether to restore some version of Glass-Steagall appears to have contributed to published reports that his influence in the administration is fading and that he is rarely if ever in the small Washington office assigned to him," the Times reports.

Meanwhile, Bankster, "your go-to site for updates on the financial services re-regulation fight in Congress and for progressive net-roots campaigning against the big boys on Wall Street"—is up and running.

The site, a project of the Center for Media and Democracy, aims to be the most comprehensive resource on the web for lay people who want to understand the battle for control over the financial services industry.

The site calls for criminal penalties for the bankers: "On the one-year anniversary of the Banksters blowing a hole in the global economy, no employee of a major American bank or financial institution is behind bars," Bankster points out. "Compare this to what happened after the Savings and Loan heist almost 20 years ago. No less than 1,852 S&L officials were prosecuted and 1,072 were jailed. Over 500 CEOs and top officers were indicted. What is going on here? Don't we believe in holding people accountable anymore? Tell the U.S. Department of Justice and the FBI to get cracking!"

[snip]

And just in time for Halloween, the anti-death-bonds campaign focuses on an issue Michael Moore brought to light in his new movie, "Capitalism: A Love Story": employers and investment firms such as Goldman Sachs taking out life insurance policies on working people and naming themselves the beneficiaries, so they can benefit from your death.

All of these issues should galvanize public opposition to the banks' control of their own regulators in Washington. As Bankster puts it, "If you want to rein in the Banksters and if you think America deserves better than a ‘boom and bail’ economy, you need to muscle up and weigh in." Only engaged citizens can stop the banks.

Getting rid of FFELP.  This is sort of in line with Baracks move against Banks.  I work for a Financial Aid office of a technical Collge.  We currently participate in the  Federal Family Educational Loan Program.    This where a guaruantee agency like Great Lakes Higher Education guaruantees a student 's loan for school after they choose a bank they want the money from.  Barack is getting rid of or trying to get rid of the program and  go to Direct Loans (which some schools have).  The direct loan program is where the money comes straight from the federal government instead of banking.  Meaning the federal government will have control over most student loans instead of banks.  It's just one more way of the government having way too much control.

It's starting to feel like we don't have enough fingers to plug all the holes in the dike.

I am totally amazed that the people of this country are truly ignorant.

It reminds me of a line from a Rolling Stone song about who killed JFK, "it was you and me".  In other words, we, the American people are allowing this to happen.  And, as long as millions of obamie supporters keep this fraud as our King of Jokers, our ship will sink even faster.

We should all do what o-joker wants us to do - volunteer to help our country.

Here are a few ideas:

Volunteer to protest at a Tea Party
Volunteer to protest at End The Fed rallies
Volunteer to videotape town hall meetings
Volunteer to protest at local events - like the one above!

To add to my comments please read this email and act if you have a child in college or on their way to college or if you are opposed to the government having complete control over loans.

VOICE YOUR CONCERNS ONE MORE TIME

New campaign focuses on Senate

Recently, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 3221, the Student Aid and Fiscal Responsibility Act, by a vote of 253-171. The core provision of the bill is the elimination of the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP) and movement of ALL new loans to the Federal Direct Loan Program, beginning July 1, 2010.

The outcome of the House vote, while disappointing, is not unexpected. The House has largely backed the President on these kinds of issues and can easily push through legislative proposals. We believe—as do many other lenders, schools, guarantors, and families—that it is unfortunate the House voted as it did. Thoughtful alternatives, including the Student Loan Community Proposal, have been offered. These proposals would avoid costly and disruptive conversions for schools, maintain choice and competition, preserve local jobs in communities across the country, and save tens of billions of dollars to increase much needed funding for Pell Grants.

Fortunately, the Senate vote could likely turn out differently—with your help. Many opportunities remain to influence the course of this legislation in the Senate. Unlike in the House, Senators from both parties are more receptive to your concerns and those of the student loan community. That’s why a campaign is being launched to give our concerns a new voice before the Senate takes on student loan legislation.

The campaign, Protect Student Choice, includes leaders and associates in the student loan community and will reach out to encourage participation from students, schools, and taxpayers who are concerned about:

Forcing 4,500 schools to convert more than $60 billion of new federal student loans to a government run program in a next-to-impossible time frame of just a few months.

Eliminating the ability for schools to choose student loan partners. Without this competition, there is no incentive to innovate and provide great customer service.

Getting rid of tens of thousands of good jobs while unemployment exceeds 10% in many communities.

By joining this campaign, we are uniting to oppose a government takeover of all federal student loans—our collective voice is strong and can make a difference.

Please take a look and consider joining the campaign at

Such important info and action items in these posts. So many thing going wrong. So much to protest. So little time. America is fighting for survival against her PRESIDENT.

I hope everyone in this country will eventually realize: This unsettling, frightening time in this country has been made possible by Nancy Pelosi, Howard Dean, John Kerry, the late Ted Kennedy, Harry Reid, the Rules and By Laws Committee of the DNC, and other top ultra-left players in the Democratic Party, along with CNN, NBC News, ABC News, CBS News, The NY Times, The Nation, The Progressive, and many other so-called "progressive" news outlets. A host of other organizations and individuals can also claim partial credit for throwing America under the bus, including ACORN, a few smaller very lefty individuals and/or groups, and some folks in the Republican Party. A shout-out for his help in the screwing of America goes to Rush Limbaugh - take a bow, Rush. And to Bill O'reilley, who was so self-serving and concerned with appearances that he chose to give Obama a pass on behaviors for which he should have been nailed.

Those who have participated in this fiasco need to be recognized and held accountable.

Do we need to start a sticky - listing all the folks who had a hand in giving us the current POTUS?
