Today I am sitting here thinking about 8 years ago today. Eight years ago today I saw a low flying plane flying over my apartment complex I remember thinking that something was wrong the flight was the wrong carrier and it was way to low to be coming from the County airport on the other side of the County. When I returned from the store 10 minutes later the local station broke in and told us that United Flight 93 went down. That was the flight I saw. Every member of congress at that time should always remember the people on board flight 93 because they saved the lives of each and every one of those people. There was an anti Hillary person by the name of Barbara Olson who I despised. She was in the plane that went into the pentagon. It made me really think about the nasty things I had said about this woman because we disagreed on politics. I remember New York when those towers fell my heart broke. I will never forget that horrible sad day.
I was dropping my son off at preschool and had my infant daughter with me when I heard the news. I had just overheard some Moms talking about it but we weren't sure if the rumors were real. I got home and turned on the Today Show and called my sister-in-law who was watching this unfold from her office in Weehawken, NJ. She was screaming and crying because her best guy friend worked for Cantor & Fitzgerald and she could see his office floor was on fire. She tried to call him but he didn't answer his cell. He died with his co-workers.
I got online and started emailing all of my college friends who lived in NYC and worked near or in the tower frantically. My good friend Cheryl ended up going to 35 funerals after the towers fell. Her husband worked in the towers but was on a business trip in Dallas. It took him many days to get home because remember we couldn't fly.
I was in Hoboken, NJ for a wedding on September 14. I saw the smoke still coming out of the city from the expressway. I vividly remember how I felt and the knot in my throat and the pit of my stomach for weeks after 9/11. I have never felt that feeling of dispair. Jeremy Glick from flight 93 went to college with me. I lost a friend who was an EMT in NYC because he was helping someone on the ground when the towers collapsed. Another friend lived in Battery Park and couldn't return home for a very long time. She and her family lived in a hotel in Morristown, NJ for free while they waited. Her husband got permission to go and rescue their cat and said that dust was everywhere in their apartment because they had the windows open.
They say there was only a 1 degree of separation between any American and those lost that day. Either you knew somebody or you have a friend that knew somebody that was killed.
God bless every soul who perished on that day (except for the nutcase radicals responsible - they ARE burning in hell for what they did). May we never forget, may we always remember, and may we always honor all who died on that fateful day.
I have to be honest and say I am physically ill at the sight of Obama laying a wreath at the Pentagon. I literally want to vomit at his tarnishing the memories of those who lost their lives there. He doesn't belong there. He doesn't give two hoots about those who lost their lives on 9/11. He doesn't give two hoots about this country. All he cares about is the photo op.
The Passengers of flight 93 died for us. The people of southwestern PA have adopted the passengers of flight 93 and their families. They were also honored at the Steeler home opener.
What would have happened if they had not faught back? We could have had real problems if that plane had been sucessful. These b**tards wanted to destroy the fiancial center that's why the WTC was chosen as a target. The Government on both the legisitive and excutative branches of the government one of those flights the one that hit the pentagon was headed for the white house but its difficult the white house is to small thank God but the Congress could have been seriously damaged. They want to destroy America and rather you are a Democrat or Republican, a Liberal, or a Conservative, or a Moderate. These people don't care about anything other then destroying America and its people.
We need to be tough and we must never forget 9/11.
