Dealers here are running commercials night and day trying to sell cars before it ends. I take offense at the whole phrase "cash for clunkers". They are not trading in clunkers, but gas hogs. Those big SUV's and hummers.
Those of us who are too poor to afford car payments are driving the clunkers, and working hard to keep them running.
My nissan is almost 13 years old. I see the tv commercials trying to lure in people to buy cars that get "up to 30 mpg" and I scream. My car got 45 mpg when it was new, and now, almost 13 years old, gets around 35 mpg.
Why not really help people by handing us that 4500.00 so we can fix up the cars we have paid off that get better milage than the ones they advertize on tv.
