Americans should be up in arms over this!  I realize that the effects of the stimulus package would not be immediate, but shouldn't we see some results by now?

"The $787 billion stimulus package that Congress passed in February doesn't seem to be having an effect, at least in the minds of a majority of adults polled by Gallup and USA Today.

The poll out Monday shows 57 percent of adults say the stimulus is having no impact on the economy or making it worse. Worse still, only 18 percent say they see an improvement in their personal situation as a result of the massive federal spending program, and 60 percent say they doubt the economy will be aided by the package in the years ahead.

"This is a wake-up call for the administration," House Minority Whip Eric Cantor, R-Va., told USA Today. "People see the stimulus hasn't worked, and now you want to lay on over $1 trillion in a health care plan." "

I think a campaign to promote the idea of REPEALING the Stimulus Bill should be started - and soon. Most of the money is just sitting there ready to be used to Stimulate Votes in the 2010 & 2012 elections. Shameful.

I agree thebword. Absolutely outrageous. I hope that Americans "stand up" against this sham, the same as they're doing with aspects of health care reform.

Yes we need to repeal this and why isn't the money being spent now.  I don't get this if it was so important why not spend the money now and not later.  Sounds fishy to me.

It was important - to create a cash cow for the 2012 elections.  Like they say "don't waste a good emergency"... so they didn't.

All that money is being held onto to be dispersed by Obama's administration (the DNC) to the States and Districts where the Democrat incumbent Governor, Senators, Congressmen/women, are facing tough challenges in 2012.  Or where the DNC has decided they want to make the area more Blue, like Colorado.

That way all the special interests are happy - so they donate more money to the Democrats.  And of course the average American voter just hears and sees "more" being done for their State/community which they attribute (with a little help from political ads) it to the one seeking re-election.  Hence more votes for the Democrat incumbent or candidate. The Stimulus Bill should be renamed Stimulus "Democrat Vote Getting" Bill.

Well, it is more than obvious that the stimulus isn't working.  What little has been spent on it has gone to porkulus projects that benefit a very, very few, if anyone.  The stimulus was intended to benefit special interests.

We went shopping yesterday and the stores were so quite that you could hear a pin drop.  The parking lots are filled sparsely with cars.  New construction in parts of our state is at a stand-still.  And, buildings are being abandoned.  It is just now hitting certain areas, while other areas have seen problems for some time now.

People are looking for jobs at Wal-mart.  And, it seems more and more retail workers are older people now.  In the past, these positions were typically filled with college-age people.  What jobs that are available are not the career-type positions, which many people seek.

Looking on the Internet and reading other forums, many people are scared for the future.  There is talk of inflation, more job losses, and bank failures.  People are worried.

Yes, the stimulus needs to be repelled.
