For Dems, a New Public Enemy No. 1 - Michele Bachmann (Politico 8/10/09) Dems Target Another Female Politician

Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann is outspoken, conservative, media-friendly — and for many in the Democratic Party, a new public enemy No. 1.

Now that former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is out of office, there are few Republican officials in the country Democrats would rather unseat in 2010 than Bachmann, a two-term congresswoman with a habit of pushing the buttons of liberals on everything from ACORN to global warming to even whether President Barack Obama is, as she once asked, "anti-American."

"She's definitely somewhere up there," Bachmann chief of staff Michelle Martson said of where the Minnesota congresswoman sits on the Democratic campaign hit-list.

Bachmann has long been on the receiving end of pointed jabs on liberal blogs like Daily Kos, where one commenter wrote a few weeks back, "After having just returned from a trip to Minnesota, I shake my head that such a beautiful place would be represented by such an ugly individual as Bachmann."

Ask Democratic officials in the state about Bachmann, and they can barely contain their anger.

"She is a bizarre news story of the month every month," said Brian Melendez, chairman of the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party.

"Michele Bachmann is just nuts," said Jeremy Powers, a local DFL chair in Bachmann's district. "She is just an utter embarrassment."

And some Democrats — Powers included — don't hesitate to compare Bachmann with the aforementioned Palin, another conservative lightning rod who speaks with an upper-Midwestern accent, is the mother of a large family, and touts a stridently socially conservative agenda that Democrats regard as outright right wing.

"She is so principally and diametrically opposed to the core principles that we have," Donald McFarland, a Minnesota-based Democratic strategist, said of Bachmann. "She is further to the right than Attila

the Hun."

"She's the poster girl for the radical fringe element," added Brian Smoot, who served as political director at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee last campaign cycle.

“I think they’re passionate about trying to beat Michele Bachmann,” said Michael Brodkorb, deputy chairman of the Minnesota Republican Party of Democratic efforts. “I think she probably frustrates them because she’s able to win every time.”

Ok, this might get me in trouble here, but from what I've read up on this lady we may wish to keep some respectable distance. She's a bit out there to put it nicely and yes homophobic as well.

I think this way............." the enemy of my enemy is my friend " . I love what Rep. Michelle Bachmann is doing. 95 % of what she is saying is true. I don't care about her stand on gay issues. I am gay by the way! Let her have her voice on the constitution and all the other matters............ then, we might convince her at another time on gay issues.
All in all, I LOVE what she is doing.

If sexism and misogyny is used against her to shut her up and try to force her out of politics -- I Have Her Back TOO!

So kos doesn't like Michelle Bachmann either? She's not even a frickin' democrat, they're going to have to get over themselves. I've noticved for years that the democrat party targets GOP women - I think they are very threatened by them, since women tend to narrowly vote democrat, but that doesn't explain they way they treated and are treating Hillary Clinton to this day. The MSM tends to groupthink as well, making their sexism even more widespread.

True, she's a little out there, but all the times I've seen her on FOX, she's been spot on. Just don't like attacking a person without all the facts, so I'll reserve judgment.

I know very little about her, so as far as her stance on gay marriage I will have to do some research.

My big issue with the Dems who bash the GOP women because of their stance on Gay Marriage is that they are just hiding behind a loosely woven veil.  They wouldn't dream of bashing their Ostupidhead and he feels exactly the same way (only he just dances around the subject).  Many Dems won't tell you to your face but they have issues with someone being gay.  Just because someone wears a Democrat Party hat does not mean they have your best interest at heart.

I would bet my bottom dollar that Constitutionally focused pubs like Bachmann and Palin would fight for every GLBT citizen because they believe in all of us created equal.  There should come a time in the very near future where the GOP should focus more on what we all have in common than what divides us.  We are guarenteed to be treated equally under the Constitution and that is what they should strive for.

OK, Optix is off of her soapbox.

The obamabots have every reason to be scared $#!tless of Michele Bachmann:

Bachmann blocks resolution recognizing Hawaii as Obama's birthplace

Here is the link for the bill, and it does include Obama:

I thought she was also part of a bill to require presidential candidates to prove eligibility, but I'm not finding that.  Perhaps she just spoke out about the issue.
