Palin's Ego Trip (The Daily Beast 11/19/09)

Y'all won't believe this one! They're saying that Sarah Palin, not Obozo, shows signs of Narcissistic Personality Disorder! The article also trashes both Clintons.

http://www.thedailybeast.com/blogs-and-stories/2009-11-18/palins-ego-trip/

This summer, remember, Todd Purdham wrote in Vanity Fair that several Alaskans had told him, “independently of one another, that they had consulted the definition of ‘narcissistic personality disorder’ in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders—‘a pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behavior), need for admiration, and lack of empathy’—and thought it fit her perfectly.” At the time, this struck me as a stretch, since all politicians are narcissistic and grandiose to one degree or another. But it turns out there’s a real connection between this disorder and Palin’s chronic dishonesty.

Narcissistic personality disorder, Ford says, is one of the personality structures associated with chronic lying. For the narcissist, his or her internal world is more real than the external world. “Internal reality is not necessarily the same as external reality,” says Ford. “Therefore when they say things it’s a product of their internal reality, they way they want things to be, the way they believe things to be. They’re not very sensitive to those correcting mechanisms that most of us have that bring us back [to reality].” He continues, “[T]hey do not experience themselves as lying, because they are saying things out of their internal world, and they manufacture their internal world to fit [their] internal needs. Obviously that makes people like this dangerous in positions of great power.”

When confronted with evidence of their lies, says Ford, “typically the person with narcissistic personality disorder or personality traits will then come up with something such as, ‘I was misquoted, you didn’t understand what I had to say, it was somebody else’s fault, somebody else gave me the information,’” says Ford. “It’s always externalized.”

After a series of public disgraces, perhaps such a person might blame Katie Couric, or Nicolle Wallace, or Steve Schmidt, or the diabolical liberal media more generally. “Sarah Palin is selling a story about the evil elites and the bumbling double-crossing staffers,” says Bella DePaulo, who earned her Ph.D. in psychology at Harvard and authored Behind the Door of Deceit: Understanding the Biggest Liars in Our Lives. “She probably does believe that the basic narrative really is true. And if the specifics of the anecdotes she tells are not so accurate—well, to her, they add up to a bigger truth. The psychology is similar to James Frey claiming that he told the “emotional truth” in A Million Little Pieces, so that makes all the actual, factual untruths OK.”

Well, we all knew that they would come out swinging at Palin with everything they had. She's a commendable force and it scares the crap out of them. They want to ensure she NEVER runs for public office again because she connects with a large group of people. That large group of people will decide many a political race in the future. Whether she would win or not remains to be seen but the fact that a large group of people would support her....well.....that could throw an election one way or another. The Dems want control and they will stop at nothing to make sure they have it and keep it. If it means obiliterating someone they will - look what they did to Hillary and she was one of their own.

They clearly are afraid of her and want her to go away. I find it amusing too that her books are selling like mad while pelosi can't give hers away.

I will say this, and if it it sexist I apologize. But frankly, I don't see them letting any woman be president. I hate saying that but it is what I think.

This is more spin by the folks with SDS.  She did acknowledge that Couric went after her, but took total responsibility for her performance in that interview.  The amount of rancor and venom being spewed by MSM and every other ultra-liberal is so far beyond reasonable, even for people who hate all conservatives.  Fear is the only explanation.  Palin stands for regular hard working, independent minded Americans - the kind of folks that the elite media and latte libs view as hicks.

Shadow, you are not being sexist.  You're being honest.  I told my husband that I will never see a female POTUS in my lifetime and I am only 49.  How sad is that?

They will work to absolutely obliterate Palin at every turn.  She can shake things up and guide her supporters to vote for others but in my honest opinion she doesn't stand a shot in hell of becoming POTUS.  I'm not convinced she is quite ready either.  I supported her as VP to McCain because I don't think McCain is going anywhere anytime soon.  She could have learned TONS from him.  But, coming in as POTUS from the get-go.....I'm not sure.  I like her though and hope she stays on the scene - she can make some definite changes in the course of politics.

What bothers me the most are the amount of women who absolutely despise and hate her.  WTF is up with that?  It's ok that they don't agree with her policies but the vile attacks and outright hatred towards her stuns me beyond belief.  I have to say it (and this probably IS sexist) but we women can be terrible *itches - jealous of anyone who has as much star power, beauty, and brains as Palin.  Most of us are NEVER going to achieve all three and for some reason instead of those things making us proud of her.....she is hated for it.  We live in a totally f'd up country.

I'm not sure Sarah is ready to be POTUS, either. If she ran against Hillary, Hillary would get my vote, no doubt about it. I would vote for Sarah against 0, though, because even if Sarah is inexperienced and doesn't share some of my beliefs, I trust her on a basic level. And I cannot sit here and let the MSM trash her while they let 0 get away with absolutely everything.

I used to think that I would never live to see an African American of either gender elected President of the USA but that was false.  I expect to see a woman elected POTUS in only a few years.  The Media bias can be defeated it was against black candidates and it wil be against female candidates.  We brought down Oprah and we can bring down the rest of the bias media.  We just have to hit them back everytime they engage in sexism.
As for the Daily Beast I don't read that crap.
