Seoul and Washington shared the view Thursday that the forthcoming joint naval exercise in waters off the West Sea will send a strong message to North Korea with regard to its shelling of Yeongpyeong Island.

The consensus came during a telephone conversation between Minister of Foreign Affairs Kim Sung-hwan and U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Thursday.

Kim Young-sun, spokesman for the foreign ministry, told reporters that Clinton delivered her deep condolences for the victims of the North’s artillery attack Tuesday.

Two Marines and two civilians were killed during the North’s bombardment. Several marines and residents on the island were injured.

The two top diplomats shared information on the rising tensions on the Korean Peninsula after the North’s latest belligerent act and exchanged views on possible solutions.

“Kim and Clinton agreed to work even more closely together to deal with North Korea,” the foreign ministry spokesman said.

“The forthcoming naval drills will demonstrate a stalwart Korea-U.S. alliance.”

The joint naval exercise will start this Sunday and continue until Wednesday.

don't worry, I am sure Obama will go over to North Korea and bow to that idiot leader of theirs.

Thank God Hillary is answering this 3 am call.

Kudos to Hillary Clinton.

She is so impressive. Never once she gets any of the names wrong, nor any of the issues off kilter.  In her weighty job, she has been steller.  Got to admire that, through and through.

yep, it is a dangerous world where things have been stirring up time and again in the past two years, and this has been a boiling lava just below the surface between North Korea and South Korea. The latest shellacking on the South is one of the worst moves that North/Kim  has made.  I am glad to see Hillary taking a stern stance.

Hillary carries the world on her shoulder and does such a phenomenal job of it.  Other aspiring women including our children shall learn what a true leader is from her exemplar performance.

Yep, ready from Day-1 is what she was and what it takes.   She is more ready than ever before.

And, I am so so glad she did not decide to stay home and bake cookies! Thank the Lord, she knew where her talents lay and put her energy there.
