Kanye: I Shouldn't Have Called Bush a Racist (11/10)

Ya think?! Kanye was out of line, as he has been in other situations.

Some weeks ago, I saw some Tweets from him quoted on Yahoo, or some other source - no link, sorry.

He was lamenting the fact that people had turned against him since the Taylor Swift incident at MTV (or whatever show it was) Awards. He certainly sounded like anything but a tough guy, saying that it was just so hard to know that some people hated him for doing that, and even had had death threats. He was just so hurt.

I don't mean to make light of this. Hopefully, Kanye has become a little more stable in his responses to actions/people with whom he disagrees. But, it was rather humorous to see this big tough rapper almost whining about how mean people could be. lol

If he's learned lessons, I applaud his honesty and increasing maturity. The man's got talent, no doubt. He just needed to get control of his impulsiveness and that mouth of his. Hopefully he's done so.

Regarding Bush's actions on Katrina. I don't think he failed to act out of racism. I think his Katrina response was serious evidence of his basic incompetence. Had the Ninth Ward been primarily inhabited by lower middle class whites, I think the response would have been the same. Had the people of the Ninth Ward been predominately upper class whites, my guess is there would have been more urgency about getting them out in the first place.

Bush took a beating about Katrina, and much of it was well deserved, IMO, although Konyae was over the top in his tirade about him. But, the mayor of NO, an AA, got more of a pass than he deserved, probably.

It's easy to judge the actions of other, especially when we are on the outside looking in. Often, we're inclined to see what we want to see.

I saw some contrition in the video. It is a good start. I hope that he realizes that words can be hurtful.

I dont think W.Bush was racist. Kanye actually alluded to more than just racism in his remarks back in W.Bush era (which seems so long ago, but wasnt).

Often people make an art of glossing over the harm they have caused someone else with a half-hearted apology of sorts. Sometimes they get easy out when they should not. I agree Kanye has plenty of other demerits to his name.

Kanye is so lucky he never did to Pink what he did to Taylor....she would have taken him out with one shot. Pink was FURIOUS over what he did to Taylor and I can't even type in here what she tweeted about him.

I don't think Bush did good job handling our Gulf Coast, but Kanye was WAY out of line with that comment. Little did we know then that is would be the prevailing comment come 2008. Seems everybody is a racist nowdays.

Speaking of passes, seems to me a certain POTUS has gotten a huge pass over the Gulf oil spill.

Yes, I wonder why do these oil leaks go unpunished for the most part. I had read that Pres.Bill Clinton had fined some oil companies - cannot find a link to that information anymore. If you find, please share. When I read it, I had thought that BP was getting an easy pass.
