Former DOJ Voting Chief Christopher Coates to Testify in New Black Panther Party Voter Intimidation Hearing Before Civil

Mr. Christopher Coates, former chief of the Department of Justice Civil Rights Division Voting Section, was subpoenaed by the Commission to testify on the New Black Panther Party litigation in December 2009.  The Department prevented him from testifying and subsequently transferred him to the U.S. Attorney's Office in South Carolina.  Mr. Coates has informed the Commission that he will appear at the hearing and read a statement, after which he will be available for Commissioners' questions. It is anticipated he will provide testimony about the New Black Panther Party litigation and the equal enforcement of the nation's civil rights laws by the Department.

The case involved members of the New Black Panther Party wearing paramilitary uniforms who positioned themselves at the entrance to a Philadelphia polling place during the 2008 election, one of them brandishing a night stick. Despite the entry of a default in its favor, the Department subsequently dismissed charges against all but one of the defendants and reduced the injunctive relief the Department had originally sought.

GOOD!  Somebody has some serious explaining to do.  Glad he has the courage to do the job our taxpayer dollars pay for rather than Holder/Obama bidding.

Sorry the format in the title isn't correct but the title didn't even fit.

Coates deserves a medal. In spite of efforts to shut him up, he'll be testifying. Excellent!

The fact that Holder was so willing to let these thugs threaten and intimidate voters and get away with it is a testament to the lack of respect for justice and decency that has characterized Obama's candidacy and administration. Additionally, it confirms that some of O's close buds are as racist as we knew they were.

What bothers me is that Coates had to claim whistle blower protection to testify.  There should be an investigation for obstruction of justice and violation of his civil rights but of course since the DOJ are the ones doing the obstructing and the violations, who would do it?

When the Repubs take over Congress, couldn't they call for a special prosecutor? Or something like that?

I think the DOJ  has to name a special prosecutor, but I'm not sure.  Anyone else know?

Dont know the process/options. Wish I did. Anyone else know anything about options? What can we citizens do so Coates can speak up more freely without fear of retaliation?
