I Told You So

Obama’s shortcomings were eminently foreseeable, says one of McCain's most prominent Democratic backers. Lynn Forester de Rothschild on how the president's fake bipartisanship could never hide his true leftist agenda.

The failures of the Obama presidency were clearly telegraphed by the Obama candidacy. I hate to say it, but I told you so.

Back in September 2008, as a lifelong Democratic Party loyalist and activist, I backed John McCain; I told The New York Times, “I love my country more than my party.” Supporting a Republican was the last thing I expected to be doing in the fall of 2008. But I knew it was my only choice, given the decision by the Democratic Party establishment to reject 18 million voters in favor of the inexperienced and ideological Barack Obama.

After watching President Obama in office for more than a year, it is clear to me that, during the campaign, we already knew what kind of president he would become.

The health-care summit vividly demonstrated Mr. Obama’s fake bipartisanship. When he was a candidate, we celebrated when he said, “We are not red or blue states. We are the United States of America.” But candidate Obama had no record of bipartisan behavior. Ironically, the one time that Obama entered into a bipartisan effort was with, of all people, John McCain. He reached across the aisle to draft ethics reform legislation with Senator McCain. But when Obama returned to the Democratic establishment with a bill that did not meet their favor, he backed away fast. It was candidate McCain who had worked productively and regularly with Democrats, like with Russ Feingold on campaign-finance reform and Ted Kennedy on immigration. The record told me more than the rhetoric about which candidate would honestly respect the other side and reach across the aisle to find the best solutions for America.

Great Article, CF. Thanks for sharing it. I love that Lady Lynn. She is not afraid to speak the truth. She is exactly right about Obama. We knew it all the time.

Done, HMG. I love that we do this kinds of action items here.

Here is the comment I made, under the name "BotExterminater" lol

"Amen, Lady Lynn!! You said it far better than I ever could.

It is fact that if a voter had bothered to look into Obama's record and accomplishments while he was a candidate, they would have realized what kind of President he would be. A repugnant, repellent one that no one wants to be associated with -- evidenced again and again by his constantly diminishing poll numbers.

But sadly, aided by a fawning media, as well as the establishment powers in the Dem party who were secretly backing his campaign from before the primaries even began, the DNC pulled a fast one on the country and foisted their establishment candidate to the Presidency. So be it, but the people are on to it and are aware now of how that all worked out.

And as for the neo-libs trolling this thread -- STFU. Lady Lynn is speaking what you are too ignorant or too controlled by ego to admit. You people are just as bad if not worse than the neo cons you constantly rail against -- the only sad part is, you have no idea how ridiculous and pathetic you sound to the rest of the country, a country which is middle of the road!

So then, let me put it bluntly. Get out of the Democratic party, neo libs. Go away and never come back. No one wants you or what you stand for; something which has been repeatedly evidenced in your utter failure to recreate any of the "Obama magic" in Virginia, New Jersey, and most deliciously, Massachusetts.

Neo cons may have been allowed to influence this country disproportionately for far too long, but we won't let the same happen with the neo lib crazies now. So hear this, the days of the neo libs and their Black Jesus (a term originated by Obama's campaign insiders itself, in reference to the ego and vanity of Obama -- look it up) are numbered. Moderates of all stripes will be taking the country back from your ideological insanity."

Yes that's him lol and I made sure he knew I knew that. He is really foul he is stalking Amy Suskind and he works with Betty Cracker who has for some crazy reason decided to start harrassing Optix lol not a good move on her part.  Nothing I like more than to put a bunch idiots in their places.  They can't call me a racist like they can a white woman and if she doesn't leave Optix alone then she will have to deal with me.
I personally think she must be a little nuts so is bigot basher. I mean he is stalking people like Amy for what to prove he is a tough guy?
I think both of them need to take their eds.

Yes, and MUCH credit to her, she warned us plenty. The electorate failed Hillary. The DNC failed Hillary.

Thank goodness she had the good sense to take up SOS job; at least she can keep the hand on the dike on foreign policy.

As to the comment on the extreme left... Majority of Dems are probably moderates and not the far left.  Population follows normal distribution curve even on political ideology; there are few on the extreme ends.  Just as the far right formed the CPAC, the far left could do their own LPAC (Liberal PAC) and decide who they want to endorse/note.. and project their own voice that stands distinct from the Dem party.

I would really like to have a party that is for centrists.

I don't waste my time arguing with bots. They are not going to admit they were wrong.

I do find it amusing that people don't see the irony of saying "I told you so" to bots while completely missing the biggest one of all, Hillary. She knew what he was, and she went behind closed doors to cut a deal with the pos. No I don't respect her for getting into bed with that sack of sh*t.  Her so-called wonderful career as sos is a joke. They put her right where they could keep her under their control, and she said she is quitting at the end of this 4 year stretch.

You seriously don't see it? She is quitting. Going home. Who won? They got her out of their way, control her, and managed to make her quit after 4 years. Assume that pos wins a second term. Who will be sos next? Be very afraid. I am.

I respect her.  She did not quit, most SOS only serve 4 years that the reality it's a demanding job.  I don't her fighting for women's  and girls rights around the world should be called a joke.  If she was still in the senate what? she couldnt really not vote for his healthcare bill cause she supported the mandate.  Don't be mad at Hillary be mad at your fellow american citizens, and I am glad Hillary didnt go back to those backstabbing senators.  Hillary has earned the right to call it done as far as politics she has given much of herself and if she wants to teach  and write god bless her.

rachel, I agree with you.

There was no one more saddened than Hillary after 5/31. I know so. After the June presentation in DC the Clintons actually took a "health" break and headed up the Hudson to a "retreat". She was devastated by what the party did.

We sometimes forget that it is indeed politics of primary - where the winner takes all.

She did the absolute best of a very bad situation for herself. When she was offered the SoS job, she was the one to bring up that Pres.Bill Clinton's ventures and personal affairs are not what she controls. It is a great thing she did in an interview situation, and I commend her for it.

I do not expect martyrdom from Hillary Clinton. What she has done in SoS job as the Chief Diplomat and policy guide and policy executive is exemplar, bar NONE!

I especially like to watch global affairs, and NEVER expected that I would find my favorite leader in the SoS seat. I for one, am enjoying the combination immensely.

Yes, she is doing a tremendous job, especially for women, around the world. It is a torch she has carried for a long time, and she herself has been hidden under a very tall tree called Pres.Bill Clinton (no slam on him - his greatness has shrouded her). It is terrific that she has come to the spotlight in her own right and is blazing such a strong trail. We should be so lucky that we get another full year or two from her in the SoS job. And, if we are very very very very lucky, perhaps another run for President.

I couldn't have said it better rachel.  I totally agree.

Shadow, obviously, you have the right to your opinion.  But, you obviously, are aware that this board is for the most part, pro-hillary - in fact extremely pro-Hillary, and that many of us will continue to defend her. The argument made by many that she took the position of SOS in order to be able to have a legitimate reason to leave her senate position makes perfect sense, imo.  Had she still been a senator, she would have been in a very tough position, given some of the unwise and ultimately, unpopular legislation the Dems have passed.   I know that rationale has been put forth in past discussions about this issue, and I'm pretty sure you were involved in those discussions.  I can only assume that you either don't buy that rationale for Hillary's becoming SOS, or that if you do buy it, you still don't feel she should have agreed to be SOS.  Again, that's your right.  I would just like to say that self-preservation is imperative if one is to be able to continue to function in government and politics.  Whether right or wrong, that's the case.  I believe that to fault Hillary for accepting the SOS position and for leaving the position after one term is more than a little unfair.  JMHO

I agree completely.  It was sexism of the American people who decided that she needed more FP then the guys even though she had more then all of the men running in both parties John McCain actually had less FP then she did but the media and sexist American people are the fault.
Hillary had no choice to support Obama and frankly I am sick of this whole agruement. I guess it is easy for people to make judgements about other people's career and began to be angry at Hillary for making the best choice for her career which was NOT remaining a Senator but getting that FP experience.  I think these whinning women need to get a grip.  I am sick of women and Hillary right now.  They get angry with her for no reason.  I am sick of women bitching about whom Hillary supported in 2008.  She said from day one that if she lost her nomination that she would support Barack and that is what she did
I am glad she is SOS and by the way he is not ignoring her perhaps you haven't realized that he took Hillary's side against Rice and Powers and those two chicken heads are powerless.  He has backed everything she has done and will continue to do this.  She has become the best SOS beating Kissenger.  It is Hillary who is overshadowing Barack.
There are calls from everyone for her to run in 2012 and yes she is planning another run at the WH.  I am sorry that people have stopped supporting Hillary because of their own foolishness and pollyanna ways of looking at the world.  The real world has a lot of realities and Hillary needed to endorse Obama and like it or not she did that.
Like Rachel said blame your fellow Americans for voting for Mr Hopiem over the one but that is reality

I respect everyone's opinion, and I would like to submit my own.

Have you ever been in a job with a boss that is a control freak and a jerk, but you really liked the job?  I have.  I worked in a field where I was priviledged to help many people, all day, every day.  I had to put up with a lot of crap, sometimes, but it was worth it.  I had to toe the line in certain places, but I had many friends, and the support of family, so it was doable.  But, again, there were certain things I couldn't say or do, because of my position relative to that of my boss and supervisor.

Hillary was in the same position.  And here's how overpowering her's was:  Barack Obama wasn't even born in this country; he's not even eligible to BE president.  But yet, here we are, over a year later, and he's still in the position, supported by the crooked Supreme Court, and every judge in the land is afraid to question his status.  Some have tried, but they get a visit from the Attorney General, and that's the end of that!

So, now, Hillary has her foreign policy experience, which she needed.  It's obvious to even the most drunk kool-aid kid that Obama is an incompetent creep.  And where is our girl Hil?  As HMG said, she's doing much better than Barry, and people are scratching their heads, saying "Why didn't I vote for HER???"

She has put herself in the ideal position to run for president.  Hillary knew her political life would be over if she questioned the puppet's legitimacy, because the CORPORATE POWERS THAT BE INSTALLED HIM IN THE WHITE HOUSE, and they pull all the strings.

We support Hillary because we know she is the best out there, in the political pool of sharks.  And I hope with all my heart that HMG is right, that Hill WILL RUN!  When she does, we will be behind her all the way to the White House.wink
