My resolution for 2010 can be summed up by the acronym GOYA, which stands for "Get Off Your A$$"!  Anybody else making specific goals for the New Year?smile

biggrin What do you mean "get off your ass"? That could entail anything from exercise to renewed political activism. Just wondering.

I probably will make some, but I haven't yet - like most people, I only follow through on maybe 1 in 4 or 5. That's still enough to make it worth it. Now, to think of some and write them down, that helps when it comes to keeping it.

Resolved:  I WILL increase focus on family, take care of myself and enjoy life more.

My kid is growing very fast, and I will focus even more on my kid in the coming years.

Take extra care of my eyes.
Earlier this year (March 2009), I fainted in my kitchen leaning in towards the countertop one morning (you may recall my post in HV). After MRI, it was initially categorized vertigo but the medicines they gave me made me dizzier. I went thru all kinds of tests and found all kinds of stuff like vitamin deficiency, but the dizziness continued, especially in reading words.  It was particularly bad with certain colors (HW's color changes made me really mad!) and in chat rooms (when words seemed to float and my eyes screamed!); different font sizes on same page made me really upset because they hurt my eyes, as did the stripes in background colors.   It was not until early December that we discovered that it was an eye coordination issue called "Convergence Insufficiency."  I got new glasses with BOTH horizontal and vertical prisms (neither of which I had ever had before) and the world is not so insanely floating anymore.  About the ONLY thing that would have given any hint to eye issue is that when waking up, I have been opening one eye at a time because of intense pain (I had said that in HV and felt that may be diabetes).  The headaches and floating words and missing sentences etc.. all of those I had attributed to tiredness.. but now that I have had the correct glasses for a few days already, I know what reading can be really like!  Incredible that for so many many years none of my ophthalmologists have diagnosed it.  The glasses (just the lenses) cost nearly $1k but it is well worth it to not have the constant headache and eye stress all day long, not to mention the pure enjoyment in reading words.  I may be undergoing vision therapy in the coming months - if you know anything about vision therapy, please share.. by PM. Thanks.

I want to go on a regimen of exercise.  Already I moved around the furniture in the sunroom and moved in an exercise machine so I can keep it there out of the way of guests. It is already in use. :)

Hello all....Wow we move around alot...and S were lucky i even went to the link because in most cases I delete when Im unsure of where and who im speaking to...LOL!

Oh the promises of a new year........diet at the top of my list...not so much because of vanity but because i want to feel better at 45 I have found the weight makes me have more pains in my joints and im hoping losing weight will help...We are still trying to sale our home in Iowa and will be moving to Nebraska...back to our home town...we are excited and happy about the move even though i am leaving my family and yes this includes Bloomer...:(

One thing we have come to realize in middle age is....The man with the most toys doesn't win!!!!! So we are down sizing...we own a darling older home in small town Iowa...Its a 1 1/2 story home with lots of charm...We will miss it and cherrish the memories but since DH lost his job 3 years ago we are pretty much at square one....we have made offers on a couple cute houses but one day I was looking at houses on the net and a new mobile home listed...Its a darling mobile home built in 1995....top of the line for its year...and it was under 20,000....I just started to think ya know we could pay this off fast own our home and we already own our cars we would be debt free....A 30 year mortgage is seeming rediculous and for what? To keep up with the jones...sorry but we will never be able to do this...So there you have it...This is what we have learned in 2008-9 We arent going to continue to live a life style that we cant keep up with and reality has sunk in.....and you know what I feel free for the first time in years and I am very happy....

so I guess what I am saying is we are lightning up in 2010 in more ways then one.....

I'm with you, Alex. My resolution is to exercise regularly. Even though I'm constantly moving - like most of us are - I've been lax about doing real exercise. Planning to change that. I also am resolve to improve my attitude. I'm don't think of myself as someone who is negative or complains a lot - but I've caught myself falling into that habit. I plan on turning that around. To tell the truth, I think my somewhat negative attitude actually began during the 2008 election (or appointment). The injustices we witnessed sparked (or nurtured) a very negative, angry, spark in my psyche - and I allowed it to have too great an impact on my overall attitude. Of course, it could just be that by nature, I'm just a mean, nasty b-word. lol.

I am going to spend more time with my teenager and my grandchildren.  My granddaughter needs some help losing weight she is obese and she promised Grandma she would start working out more. I plan to also enjoy spending time with my new granddaughter whenever she makes her arrival in the world.  I am also going to try to be nice  to my future daughter in law.  I need to remember that although I may not like her my son loves her grrr.  I am also going to NOT fight this year.  I always make this one but I don't always keep it.

I mean it in many ways, both big and small.  I need to stop thinking I should be doing this or that and JUST DO IT!  I've already put this into place twice this morning, and it sure makes me feel better - just get UP already, refill that cleaning bottle NOW, and dustbust BEFORE you start the computer - YAHOO!wink

Sanders, I'm so glad you found a solution to the eye situation.  Now it will be easier to implement your other resolutions!

Layne - so good to see you!  Your plan sounds excellent, and very freeing.  I know you'll have great success with that.

FreeSpirit - "GOYA" definitely applies to exercise.  I'm not even where you are - moving constantly.  The opposite, really.  And I can relate to the negative attitude part, too, which does seem to originate with politics.  We're going to do much better in both areas - we all owe it to ourselves to GO FOR THE GOLD!

HMG - it's so exciting that you have a grandchild and one on the way!  Reading your articles and posts makes it clear that you will be a great example as a person to these young ones.  I know you are very inspiring to us here at Hillary's World!

Destiny - speaking of inspiring, your great energy and activism have always got me going, to do what I know is right and necessary.  Thanks to you, and to everyone here at Hillary's World, for making me a better person by watching your example.  The very best to you all and your families.  We're ALL going to make 2010 a year to remember!wink

Alex, I appreciate your enthusiasm, as well. Thanks for the encouraging words. Destiny, I'm with you, girl. Just as soon as I whip this nasty attitude into shape, and am less likely to lose it and throw down (lol), I'm going to participate in every protest event I can find - maybe even the hard core conservative ones. On second thought, I had better not risk it. Like HMG, I'm resolving to be more peaceful in my interactions with others. BTW, good luck with your resolutions, HMG - especially about being nice to your son's fiance. I have a son, and his choice in girl friends has not always been easy deal with. I think it must be a mother/son thing.

Best of luck to everyone with their resolutions. We can do it! And, if we fall a little short from time to time, lets resolve not to beat ourselves up too much. Lord knows we women can be hard on ourselves.

Thanks Alex and Freespirit.  At every protest/rally I attend, I make sure I tell as many people as possible that I'm a registered democrat and I tell them about pumas (and that we knew first).  I'm no longer surprised that no one knows about us pumas.  The MSM did their job in hiding us and what little did get out on our mission (like on FOX), was quietly buried.  The surprise on people's faces is something to experience.  To realize that millions of Hillary supporters voted for McCain is really unthinkable to these protesters. Most are republicans and some are independents, but no democrats.  I'm use to it now.
And, they have never heard obama called ovomit.  I can't remember who made that up on our last forum, but people laugh and enjoy the release in the deserved name-calling.
Remember when Murray said that we couldn't call oblabla names on his forum?  Murray said that we had to treat him as we did Hillary on his site, something about respect, bla, bla, bla.  Anyway, one of our 'funny' members decided to get some last shots in by 'asking' Murray if any of the following names were okay to use.  And, of course, they were worse than the names we all had been using.  We had some funny times.  When he closed his site down, that was the one list I wished to have copied.

LOL I remember that Destiny.  I guess that is when Murrey was becoming obamafied (My new word meaning becoming an Obot)  Its quite fatal and the person is suspectable to irrational thoughts, violent tendecies, and rudeness.  If you encounter one of these people call the ambulance and try to have them admitted to the mental ward.  Its really their only hope.

I remember that, too!  It was horrifying to see people turn into ozombies right before our eyes. eyepopping.gif

And I've got good news and bad news about these ozombies.  Yes, some of them are rude and obnoxious.  And some of them, like my husband, are sweet as pie for the most part.  But at some point, you either have to agree to disagree, or things get a little testy!evileye
