Hillary Supporters Can We All Just Get Along?

I know I know I feel like Rodney King here but this is how I feel?
Hillary Supporters seem like they are dividing into two different camps and this is breaking my heart. I have come to know and love so many women since Hillary started her campaign. We saw each other through good times and bad times. We laughed together and we cried together. We didn't care that some of us were Democrats, Republicans, and Independents. We came together despite the fact that we were right wing as well as left wing.
I am very right wing and I am a die hard Hillary supporter yet recently I was attacked on facebook because I disagreed with the left I was told that I must support Hillary because she is a girl and all types of things. First of all they need to brush up on their Hillary information because their agruments were incorrect and second of all Hillary's foriegn Policy, hers, not Obama's is very conservative so there are lots of reasons for a right wing chick to like Hillary.
I am sick of being called a Republican I am as offended by that as I am when people call me a Democrat. I am an Independent.
There is also a rumor that HV was started by Republicans when that is not true. HV was started by a left wing Liberal and a moderate Democrat. Yes there was one Republican administrator but she is as loyal to Hillary Clinton as anyone else is and as for the other Admin she is an Independent. She is a right wing independent like I am.
I was never forced to support Gov. Palin and although I like the Governor a lot I am not sold on voting for her yet. Gov. Palin unlike Hillary Clinton has to show me what she has. Hillary did that a long time ago.
Obots are offensive creatures and yes people who voted for Obama were kept off that board because frankly they have more places online then people who oppose him do.
So do the Liberals want us to go away then want us to come back to Hillary it doesn't work that way. We are going to have to find a way to get along.
I don't think Hillary would want us to break up in fact you all know she wants us to stay together. Its OK to disagree but the name calling on both sides must stop.
I wonder if the Left wing doesn't want anyone right wing to vote for Hillary I wonder if they know they are hurting her. She wouldn't like that.
We can always debate without insulting people. That's a good way to heal the bridges that are cracking under the pressure.
I do not want Obama in my face 24-7 and I certainly am not going to support this administration except for Hillary.
Obama is where the first split happened. Some of us voted for him and some of us didn't. We seperated then because we had to but after the election people who supported Obama during the General were called Obots and sent away. That began to change for some of us because for me in order to get our girl elected then we are going to have to depend on each other.
It is time for both the Right and the Left to get it together and start working out our problems.
Do we want Hillary in the White House if we don't we will continue to blame the Republicans when funny thing is it was the Democrats who stole this election.
I am also tired of sticking up for my friend who is a Republican. I m tired of this because she doesn't deserve the insults she has had to endure. She is a die hard Hillary supporter and she was insulted on another friend's blog. I wonder if the person who insulted her bothered to find out how much time, effort, and work this person put in for our girl. What would happen if she decided to leave Hillary and go to Sarah since after all she would still be voting her party. Her one vote could decide that Hillary becomes President or not. Remember that in our goal to get Hillary elected there are other people besides Democrats that Hillary needs to win any election.
We may find a common ground if we meet in a place that is Hillary's only. No Barack and No Sarah. I created one I wonder if the Lefties will join or will I just be called another Republican.
PUMAs must start accepting Hillary supporters who voted party and the Left wing of the party must start accepting the right wing supporters and stop insulting them.
I love all you guys but I must stand up and say enough is enough. We have to get along because it is Hillary who will suffer.
HV wasn't brought down by the Republicans either it was brought down by the Obama administration or his supporters. We were infilitrated during the Primary. Its not the Right wing who did this but Obama loving, women hating Ultra Left Liberals.
The Republicans had no interest in taking us down they had more interest keeping us up. the Obama administration is the one who wants to get rid of Hillary.
Anyone interested in joining my Hillary only forum its located at http://hillarysforum.activeboard.com

I wrote this today because I am disturbed about Hillary supporters going there own seperate ways.  I am also frustrated by people who say I voted for Hillary because she is a girl because I am so right wing or I must be a Republican.  There is nothing wrong with Republicans but I am not one nor am I a Democrat.  I am an Independent. We are going to have to decide do we split up or do we find a way to get along.

If we divide based on identity politics then guess who will win another 4 years and have our girl be at his beck and call?  Hmmm?

I am a LIFE LONG REPUBLICAN folks.
LIFE LONG and will NEVER, EVER, LEAVE MY PARTY.  BUT I LOVE HILLARY CLINTON AND WANT HER AS MY PRESIDENT MORE THAN WORDS CAN EXPRESS!

When individuals rant about the Republicans, they are directing their rants at me.  I see the emails, I see the posts, I see it and it makes me angry. If there are Republican representatives in your jurisdiction that aren't cutting the mustard, then VOTE THEM OUT!  If there are Democrats in your jurisdiction that aren't cutting the mustard, then VOTE THEM OUT!

No one in our current House or Senate are perfect individuals, but they are individuals.  I vote for competency, not party. I stay with the GOP because I believe in personal responsibility and small government.  That doesn't mean I want to force my religious beliefs on you, it also doesn't mean that I will force my choices on others either.  I want women to be judged by competency and not by what they wear or how many children they have had.  I want women to be judged on the same scale as the men, regardless of party.

You have every right to disagree with me, but you have no right to use nasty language to prove your point.  I value opinions that are based in fact, not heresay.  I also value different perspectives and debating dialog.  As soon as you start using political nasty slurs then you will lose respect from me.  Just debate your point, agree to disagree, and move on.

Dang, I have been wanting to say this for a long time now.  Can we move past this now and start talking about kinder gentler things...like pie?

I must have missed something, because I haven't seen any political party slurs on this Forum. But I'm glad you have taken action, HMG and Optix, and addressed the issue head on.

In my area, during my childhood, it was considered UN-American to ask a person WHO they voted for. The privacy of the VOTE was considered all important to preserve our Freedoms and keep our Democracy alive. I don't think it's anybody's business what Party a person belongs to, or for whom they voted. But I'll take HMG's and Optix's lead and in the interest of full disclosure, I have been a registered voter with "no party" affiliation my entire life. I have voted for Dems, Reps, Ind, Greens, Coserv., Working Party, Liberals, Pro-Choice, and Right to Life, etc., etc.. I purposely divide my votes if necessary to ensure the checks and balances of government remain and to promote more then just a two party system. Those two things are more important to me then the actual candidate. I NEVER wanted what we have going on right now - complete power being held by one party.

As for HRC, honestly I was not a fan originally. I voted for Pres. Clinton, but didn't really warm up to either one of them. Maybe it was because I was starting my family and really didn't have the time or desire to keep up with politics. However, during the 8 years of the Clinton administration HRC grew on me. She then ran for Senator of my state. Again I was unsure, but voted for her. The outright sexism used against her woke me up to the reality that women have not come as far as we thought in equal rights. But, she always held herself with such dignity. Such grace and intellect - no matter what is thrown at her. She won me over and I hope I get the chance to vote for her again.

Optix I am sorry you have had to endure that.

I changed from democrat to republican out of protest, and not wanting my name attached to the policies being pushed on us, and the cheating done by the dems.

But as I began to study the republican party's beliefs, I found myself agreeing. So if being a republican is seen as bad, then include me in there as bad, because I am now a genuine republican, one who supports Hillary, and Sarah Palin.

I, too, am glad we are addressing this issue.  It seems to have been brewing underneath the surface for sometime.  Everyone has the right to their own opinion, but no one has the right to degrade, falsely accuse, or act in a disrespectful manner.  We need to respect each other’s opinions and have a calm, rational discussion based upon facts.  It is that simple.  Otherwise, nothing productive ever results and feelings are hurt.

I am a fact-based person.  I need to see facts to support my opinion/conclusion.  Without facts, rational decisions and discussions can not be had.  And, it is very difficult to sort out fact from fiction, especially on the Internet.

Since we saying this . . . for myself, I always considered myself a Democrat, but after this election, I now consider myself an Independent.  I am fiscally conservative, believing in smaller government, and am in the center on most issues.

I will and have always voted for the person, not just the party.  I have tried to make rational decisions, based on who would be best to serve at that point and time.  I have no problem voting for any party.  I supported Hillary, because I felt that she was the best, most qualified candidate.  It was not just because she was a woman or a Democrat.  It was because I felt that she was the right person for the position.  I voted for McCain/Palin, because I saw them as the best choice.  And, for example, it wasn’t because McCain is a Republican or Palin is woman.  I felt they were best choice for our country.  Other people have the right to see otherwise, this is the way I saw it.  I respect everyone’s choice and want the same respect in return.

There are so many issues facing us, such as health care, cap and trade, tax increases, etc., that will fundamentally change our country as we know it.  This is my main focus.

We are human, we will disagree at times, but let us do so respectfully.

Optix, I want pecan pie!  Yummy!

These comments begin a discussion that needs to take place, and I'm glad this subject has been raised. The very last thing we need is to allow party labels and political affiliations to be an excuse to attack others. I'll admit that prior to 2008, I saw the Dems as the good guys and the Reps as the bad guys. Then, the unthinkable happened. My (former) party turned on Hillary, and on her 18 million supporters. They gave her votes to Obama. They welcomed the sexist attacks by MSM on Hillary, never lifting a finger to support her. They never raised a single objection to the caucus fraud - it served their purposes. They demanded that Hillary drop out of the race when she was winning. And, they demanded that we Hill supporters "Get over it", and vote support Obama - their pre-selected candidate.

The Democratic Party, of which I was a life long member, used every resource they had to subvert democracy. That was a sobering realization. The behavior of the DNC and other Dem leaders - who sold out their friend and supporter, Hillary Clinton, made it impossible for me to look at politics and political parties in the same way. I had to look deeper than labels, and actually learn something about the individual. For me, that was the only good thing that came out of the 2008 race. I actually grew up a little, and recognized the necessity of looking at the gray areas - things were no longer black and white (nor had they ever been - it was just easier to believe they were).

No doubt, there are many differences in the views and beliefs of members of this forum. But, as Hmg said, there is one very important commonality - Hillary Clinton. For me, part of the process of supporting Hillary means also supporting women's rights, fighting media bias, working to end fraud in our electoral process. Others may have different issues. We don't have to agree on everything. And we don't have to try to diminish those who don't agree with us.

I think we are all so sick of the back-stabbing, the gossiping, and the drama. I, for one, will not be a part of any group in which insulting, gossiping about, or disrespecting other members is involved. It's destructive in real life, just as it is online. Can we disagree and have vigorous debate? IMO we not only can, but we should. But, as Optix said, we should address the issues, not attack the person.

I'll admit, I still have very strong feelings about some of the social issues in politics - particularly reproductive rights. I am very strongly pro-choice. There are other areas in which my beliefs and views differ from the more conservative members of the Rep party. But, regardless of the issues - if democratic process is not protected, if elections are fraudulent, then nothing else really matters. Without the ability to choose our country's leaders in free and fair elections, we don't really have democracy, and whether our leaders are Rep or Dem it makes no difference.

So, I'm happy to join with those who want to support Hillary and what she stands for. be they Rep, Indy, or whatever. As someone else said, in supporting her, we also need to follow example, and behave with decency, respecting others, and by all means - not ripping other women apart.

Great post this completely defines how a lot of us feel right now. Lots of of infighting.

Optix, I agree with you and I don't like when people are extreme when they go against the GOP, The Democratic party is no better than the GOP right now in my opinion. Some people are saying that GOP are trying to take over us Hillary supporters and convert us to right wingers... I SEE NO EVIDENCE OF THIS AT ALL! I think we just need to realize that we are in tough times and that we need to find common ground.

This stuff is not necessarily going on at this forum but people are blatantly being obvious in offending people here.

I have not seen a single Republican here or on HV that manipulated us or said they would vote for Palin over Hillary!

I am not going to be called a Republican and every name in the book just because I don't obsess over Hillary's every move!! Enough with some of these peoples nonsense. Such stubborn people who think that there way is the way that everybody should follow.

And why should we let obots who don't even think Hillary will ever run again and who will NEVER vote for Hillary over Hillary supporters who are Republicans! Makes no sense.

My biggest gripe is being called a racist because I don't support the Obama administration. This has not happened on this forum but it has on another one.

I don't care if you are a repub, dem, indy, or martian. I want Obama legally out of office and I will work with anyone with that same goal.

FS, although you did not mention pie in your post, I agree with it wholeheartedly.  There was no way I would remain a Democrat after what happened, although I don't blame others for doing so.

What I woke up to during this horrid election cycle was that there is a power bigger than Democrats and Republicans that is manipulating both, a power that pre-picks our presidents to carry out their own selfish agenda.  I think that's what we need to open our eyes to and address.

Now for some pie:

Sorry, wrong pie!  Here we go:

Pecan pie for Calico and everyone.  I've been meaning to make some, and this will inspire me, no doubt, as all of your excellent posts have!wink

Alex, that pie looks wonderful. I'm making coffee right now. May not sleep a wink tonight, but life's short, might as well live it with a sugar high and a caffeine buzz. lol
